Time for another Leithread. You know you love them!
These are just some small flavor/very minor improvement ideas for wiccans (mostly SD's) that wouldn't really be easy/appropriate to bring up ICly, or for envoys.
FOR SHADOWDANCERS
o New athame description. Silver? Blue glow? Pah! Seren conspiracy! They should be obsidian athame. Perhaps with a purple glow. Wyrd up, yo.
o New torc description. Interlocking silver crescent moons? I think not! Please change it to a neat obsidian or onyx design, preferably incorporating Nocht's seven-pointed star symbol.
o Remove the "dragged screaming from the shadows" message for summoning fae, since Glom doesn't kill/enslave anymore. Also, maybe change the descriptions of the recently-converted fae who wanted Etherglom to be in line with the current shadowbound fae descriptions.
FOR MOONDANCERS
o Increase description flavor by making Moon-converted/Moondancer-summoned fae have updated descriptions showing their sparkly moon-lighted-ness.
o Um... more kitties in the guildhall? I dunno, I have less ideas for you guys, sorry. Add more.
FOR ALL WICCANS
o Please remove the room message for ordering a fae passive if it's faecloaked... I die a little inside every time someone orders their entourage passive and spam-griefs me in the face.
Feedback! Please! Also, feel free to add stuff!

No on the shadow drag-screaming removal and "altered" Moon Fae. They're meant to be like that, and changing it cheapens them more than they already are.
Yes on the "compress entourage passive" though. I wouldn't want it removed as it's nice to see them pacified, but it really doesn't need to be like 22 lines long.
Sure on the athame/torc. That was probably an oversight.

Agree with Shiri. Shadowdancers ain't Moondancers and yes, fae are slaves to us. Take a fae to Lhiannan and she thanks you for the slave. Like the idea of a new torc and athame, thoguh!
Shishi2008-06-01 03:29:51
Daem reasons the fae scream out of the shadows like that because Mother Night is scary, and so are the shadows. They calm down and still maintain their personalities once they realize they aren't being hurt. The message doesn't need changing.
Leiliadhe2008-06-01 03:41:20
Psh, Lhiannan is Lhiannan. Fae aren't slaves because they aren't forced to serve. We convince them through influence, rather than swooping from the skies in a Wyrdcopter to capture them in nets. Shishi's cheesy explanation is hard to fight, though.
Ashai2008-06-01 03:44:31
I always thought that they were screams of pleasure... :>
Anyway, yes to all of the athame and torc changes, certainly. It seems like a lot was overlooked in the introduction of Shadowdancers (note former lame shadowbound-fae descriptions - one line!).

Psh, fae are too slaves. So are Shadowdancers, we were all bound in shadows as novices. I still expect to be respected by my coven. I don't care that I'm a slave, I treat my fae the same as if they are apart of my coven, just another slave to mother night. (Daem's reasoning for only taking fae that want to go to Night. A happy slave works better than a non happy one. Just look at those poor furriken in that one place. They spend most of their time moping!)
Leiliadhe2008-06-01 03:46:17
Yeah... we got them to move away from "This is a shadow sprite, it is made of shadows and sprite", which was good, *fistbump Druken*, but I still can't help but feel like wiccans deserve cool and unique descriptions for their fae that differ from generic vanilla Faethorn variety.
Hazar2008-06-01 03:46:23
I don't think the screaming should be changed, but I think moon fae should gain some flavor. Flavor doesn't equal oppression, necessarily.

The flavour is that they're the same as normal Fae and not altered in any way. An event would have to happen for that to change.
Leiliadhe, there's plenty of room for Night Fae to be slaves. It's a debatable point, not something you can just gloss over.

Well, I think it's things like this (neutrality), which sometimes make it seem like Serenwilde has a lack of RP.
Of course, on the other hand, it is fairly established that Serenwilde is all about clinging to the past (and I don't mean that in a negative way).
I'm not really accepting it or refuting it, but to me at least, it's boring.

But Moon Fae aren't the same, per se.
Consider the fact that in Faethorn there are Fae who want to follow Night, want to follow Moon, or want to stay put in Faethorn.
Under that logic, that means fae are being convinced to follow Moon or Night. You can't convince them to stay in Faethorn. So they really should have separate lines/messages.
Just my opinion.

This is a complete non-sequitur.
@Ashai: Not really. The fact we have historically interacted on a positive note with Faethorn is -part- of the RP. Serenwilde is the nature commune, not the opposite-of-Glomdoring commune.
Ashai2008-06-01 04:21:59
Well, in many senses, Glomdoring and Serenwilde are at dogmatic odds. Opposites most of the time, I would say.

Right (mostly), but Serenwilde isn't -defined- as "opposite of Glomdoring", just like Celest isn't defined as "opposite of Magnagora." They -are- opposites de facto, and that becomes integrated into their identities, but it isn't the foundation of it.
Plus Serenwilde and Glomdoring keep getting pushed closer together anyway (see: event before this last one). If everyone tried at once we could probably find a reason to team up against the cities (not feasible, but still). Serenwilde and Magnagora are opposite on two axes, Serenwilde and Glomdoring opposite on only one.
Ashai2008-06-01 04:26:14
This is true, and I've thought about it, and it seems as though an alliance between Serenwilde and Glomdoring could only be a short-term one, to eliminate another threat (cities). Long term civility doesn't really work (Blacktalon/Viravain teaching number one: spread the Wyrd throughout the whole basin).
Leiliadhe2008-06-01 22:00:44
Okay, random idea. More a skills thing than flavor, but I wanted to gauge peoples' reactions before suggesting that it be envoyed...
Broom improvements. Right now, very few people (at least that I know) use brooms, because they can already fly. So what if brooms could gust, and/or sweep away contagion clouds/fog/poison gas, and waterwalk (because they hover)?

I'd prefer if you guys got flying monkey ents, if you're talking about flavour.
