How'd you come up with your characters name?

Silferras was initially Silfyrras, the name of a character I made up for an RP board I used to frequent. I think it was to be a combination of 'silver' and 'fire,' with the extra syllable because I wanted a more sibilant finish. The 'y' somehow morphed into an 'e' along the way when I decided to reuse the name for Lusty, because it looked a little better. As far as I know, it's an original name.

A charcter that I had from Achea was vorld got it from a name generator unlike some of my alts. Liked the name so kept it.
Trakis2008-06-02 15:02:15
I found out afterwards that Trakis is the name of a character who appeared in one episode of Babylon 5.

After looking it up, apparently Ried is also a surname, ten different places in Germany, five in Austria, five in Switzerland, one in the Netherlands, and an Austrian football team. ermm.gif

Star Ocean: The Second Story for the PS1.

My favorite character was a snotty mage woman named Celine that always ended fights with "That was it?" I loved that game. Best RPG ever. Made all the Final Fantasy's look like Donkey Kong.

i played Star Ocean, never really got into it though. The main character always seemed cool though.

but donkey kong? really? FF is always pretty awesome, though the latest one didnt really interest me much either.
Brenek2008-06-02 16:40:01
Made up a decade ago and used ever since whenever I need a name. Also enjoy Brenex, Heeta, and Teneul.

I see character plagiarism as a sign of an inferior and uncreative mind.

sorry i'm not as awesome as you.

I just write something that sounds neat... then someone tells me it actually has a meaning! dazed.gif

Serella2008-06-02 17:21:24
I got it from a random fantasy book. Serella was the name of an elf who floated down a river and discovered a magical portal. Or something like that. tongue.gif I liked the name, so I used it for my Moondancer.

Pansy European one. Only a few people like me play American Football in Austria.

Hmm, I have no clue how I came up with Darthen, I think it came from the name Derren some how, and I don't even know why hehe

Randon pick from a fantasy name generator.
Enero2008-06-02 20:06:38
I always come up with character names myself. Start with a letter or the first syllable and then play with it, adding letters till I find something that sounds nice to my ear.

The irony is, that Enero actually came from a namegen. Since that day I curse all namegens. With no knowledge in Spanish, I only found out a month or so later that Enero means January in Spanish. I would've suicided and created a new char if I hadn't bought credits already and played for more than 30hrs sad.gif

More Spanish speaking guides and stricter name policies!!! (Wish someone would've told me I failed)

When I look up Xavius on google, I got 65 pages of WoW powerlevelling guides, gold-buying sites, and three or four references to some roman guy

Sin sounded like a cool pronunciation, but a lame name. The l is silent, but nobody seems to know that. sad.gif
Munsia2008-06-02 22:56:21
Honestly? Well it's a funny story. I wanted to name my character Moonsia but apparently you can't do that. I've always had an attachement to names ending with 'sia' don't ask me why.. but I couldn't do it. So I figured the next best thing... 'nu' 'mu' 'moo' Munsia! Cept it doesn't sound like moon....Don't really know what I was on that day.
Rauros2008-06-02 23:17:31
As written by J.R.R Tolkien, the Falls of Rauros were the falls beneath Nen Hithoel, the great falls of the River Anduin where it fell from the heights of the Emyn Muil into the wetlands of the Nindalf. Translation: close to the area where the part of the book where the Fellowship is being persued by the Uruk-Hai after leaving Lothlorien.
