How'd you come up with your characters name?

Twilxo was from me trawling through the histories for Dracnari names and seeing the kind of sounds they use, then made up Twilxo

Zvaka is a bastardisation of sanskrit for wolf

I have numerous other names that I use, such as;
Genth (made up)
Mor'shin (tolkein)
Hoilar (made up)
Iziak (well, duh)
Lyssius (kinda greek for fury)

Pansy European one. Only a few people like me play American Football in Austria.

my grandpa couched like either minor league or college level football in Germany for a season.
So i'm sure their are more then a few people if their is a whole league. *shrug*

Decided I wanted one to fit into Magnagora. So I thought of plague, pestilence, and what came to mind..

Ended up with Malaria as the disease of choice and adjusted it to be a name. Malarious.
Arix2008-06-03 09:16:53
I would have gone with Syphilious
Twilxo2008-06-03 10:17:55

To be honest, it was more or less a randomization of sounds based around the letter 'a', pronunciation of 'ah'. I pronounce my name as Bah-sha-rah, emphasis on 'sha'.

In hindsight, I probably should've picked something a little harder to convert to 'cutesy'. Not that I particularly mind being called "Bashy."
Qistrel2008-06-03 11:40:19
I was thinking of kestrels and then combined it with my wierd love for words with a q but no u.

The only person who got the reference, in all my time of playing, was Tully.
Good night, sweet prince.
Nyir2008-06-04 07:31:09
I made Nyir's name on a whim - I typed out some letters, and liked how they looked. I imagine it sounds a bit like "near", but with the y making a sort of Italian gni sound.

A lot of my names use the letter a, so I rather like the name Nyir. This name ranks up there with the name of an Everway character I created recently (her name is Lome).
Gartinua2008-06-06 03:01:51
An adaption of my first characters name (Gart) from another mud long ago, which was a corruption of my actual name. T ending was supposed to mean shorter with a ua but sounded girly instead, oh well.

but donkey kong? really? FF is always pretty awesome, though the latest one didnt really interest me much either.

You don't appreciate a good game, FF12 was awesome, hence my stealing this name from it.

Also this thread has been done before at least twice, maybe look next time.

I played and beat FF12. It wasn't too bad. The bunny ear people looked a bit stupid....what kind of fantasy name is Fran anyways? Though...Final Fantasy isn't so great when every character is the same. The mark system pissed me off too. Though, I liked the real time combat and all the pretty weapon choices. And the summon...ooooh the summons.

The Viera.
Trasse2008-06-06 19:59:18
Trasse = randomly popped into my head way back when. I never knew how to pronounce it at first, it used to rhyme with grass, but I found out it was German for "line", so I started pronouncing it trah-suh.

Yamori = combination of Japanese for "night" and "forest", and also Spanish for "already died"

Shurimaru2008-06-07 02:11:40
I combined japanese stuff. Shuriken + Maru.

Back in the day, when I made him, Shofangi was the only monk guild. I considered myself a total ninja. Then, ninjakari came out, and I started playing ninja for realz.

I thought "New Character, Faeling..."

And it clicked, Latl

Later I remembered there was a Fairy named Tatl in Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

But hey, technically I made it up myself.
Neuf2008-07-07 15:04:31
Neuf was my best name invention, and biggest boo ever.

I thought I was being smart by taking the german eu sound, and ending a letter before and after it. I was going for short and male sounding and ended up with N-eu-f...

And then got told somewhere down the road, it's french for nine. sad.gif

My one Epic fail on name creations for sure.
Unknown2008-07-09 00:13:39
Azora broken down is "A zora", and a "zora" in spanish is a female fox, or a vixen. Azora is a fox-furrikin. So everytime you say her name, you're saying "A vixen", which is what she is. I thought it was fitting.

My initials plus the number 9

Y'know, I tried that...Weird thing about that, if I do that...I get my real name back to me. Creepy.

And as for the name Harkux, I randomly decided I wanted a name somehow managing to have a K and an X in it that sounded masculine (because Harkux was originally male, until I decided it wasn't working out and then Zia got me one of those gender bubbles. ._. I miss Zia. Mrrh.) but yeah. Harkux is what I got when plugging random letters in with. XD
