OMG WHAAAAAA WE DIDN'T GET TO ABUSE THE FEATURE LIKE MAGNAGORA DID BEFORE IT GOT FIXED
^The above phrase completely misses the point. This is a question to coders/admin/general if the tendrils had recently gotten buffed. Take Revan's questionable arguments, etc, elsewhere.
The log provided here is taking place on the Aetherfoal. It has the following modules:
Command chair with +speed diamonut (Edit: Wheel Diamonut, thanks Xenthos)
Grid
3 turrets
3 power collectors
4 aetherholds
1 ram
1 shield orb
The only out-of-the-orindary power distribution:
Chair- 150%
Shield orb- 50%
For those of you that don't know what that means, I took 50% of the power from the shield orb and gave it to the chair. It's an Empath-spec skill. This makes the chair's balance faster (Necessary, as the Foal as 4,000 hull) and causes it to sputter out less when damaged.
Crew:
Xiel- Mythical Commander, pilot
Nejii- Transcendent Combateer, gunner
Sarrasri- Mythical Commander, gunner
Rika- Fabled Combateer, gunner
Alianna- Expert Empath, empath
Prisch and Isandir on siphoning
^There's the log. I know the admin don't like reading logs, but I can't do much aside from that when it comes to concrete evidence.
Previously (That is, roughly 16 hours ago or 'last night' for me) we were capable of taking on the tendrils in these same circumstances. NO farhorizon, NO (whateverthatquietmovementthingis). 150% chair power, artifacts, the works. We were staying comfortable ahead of all tendrils (On a 4k hull ship!) by normally one or two rooms. It takes less than a second, now, for an entering tendril to attack us and we can't stay ahead of them. We've suicide-ran this three times now.
In the event this isn't a ninja buff (And I can fully accept that it isn't the case), possible problems/reasons:
-More modules = slower ship. Since our very last run, we're up two holds and one energy collector.
-There might be some movement discrepancy on Xiel's part, unsure. I'm not an expert on the difference between gliding and normal movement and how they work.
-Lag? We recently had a ~12 second lag spike where the game itself kept running, causing loads of people to die. This happened just before it.
-We really were running quietly (whatever that skill is), but didn't realize it. Failing that, the skill doesn't reset on aethership implosion.
-The chair really was damaged. Whenever we get hit, I always prioritize my first heals to the chair. I normally get the normal "this isn't damaged" response, however. In this instance I may have missed it. (That doesn't account for three repeated trials of this, though!)
Discuss.

This buff would be bad, ninja or not. Nerf experience, sure, but don't buff the creatures.
By the way, I'm fabled combateer.

This was the wrong solution. Exp should be dropped, creatures should not be buffed.

QFT.
If someone DOES find a way to keep on killing them (presumably an optimum hull size here) (UPDATE someone already did that) it's a crap "fix."

I suppose if this is the case, it just encourages people to go and buy aethercraft artifacts with credits.

No. No it doesn't. The Aether Wyrm is a fully upgraded ship - the only things it doesn't have is a Ram (Irrelevant), and the Anchor (also irrelevant).
A fully upgraded ship cannot defeat Tendrils. Cannot, in fact, even outpace them enough to stop for the couple seconds required to scoop up dust from a previous kill (or just try to recover the dust/particles you lost from having the audacity to be lagged for a second).
I've noticed a pattern, Prisch, wherin you post things without having -any- clue whatsoever as to what you're talking about. Perhaps you can work on changing this trend, so it's not so easy for people to figure out who to disagree with.

Hahaha. It's so true.
Seriously though, fix whatever you guys broke becauseeeee I just dumped over 200 credits into Aethercraft, and if this makes people not want to go anymore I'm demanding my credits reversed...again! Please?
Edit: Forgot to say please.

No ninja buff (they were buffed at the time of the other aetherspace fixes, but not since), but I will tone down their damage a little bit. I don't think they are really unmanageable as long as you don't get a gaggle of them after you (and given their relative rarity, that would have to be almost intentional).
They are meant to be tough though, Kethuru's no pushover!

I don't think that's the case. Until last night, Tendrils were much much slower, and then all of a sudden they started outpacing ships. Many people can attest to this.

What he said. I wouldn't say that they were so slow that they came to the point of being too slow, but two days before when I and my then crew went aetherspace hunting for the first time, we were actually able to just keep maybe a room or two ahead of the tendrils. Of course we came to grief when they caught up to us, but that's a reasonable thing since a majority of the time, we would at least be able to keep pace with them.
Now, they just pop up out of 4 blocks away, and before I can even move a room out, the tendril would be there as well. And then we went boom.

Well, it seems you are wrong. Because tendrils have been defeated before(Notice how, I, being clueless, am part of the crew killing them with a non-fully buffed ship), and there was apparently no change in damage; now it is reduced.
The Serenwilde is also working on buffing up their aethership and buying all the relevant artifacts, splurging hundreds of credits on it.
People who are desperate enough will spend credits on their aethership so they can level faster,
and they are.
Lesson to be learnt, Ixchilgal. Logic does not work by majority vote.

Except Ixchilgal has a 2650 credit aethership that's pretty sizable that can't actually beat tendrils, so..

What does that even mean.
With all his artis he's not fast enough to stay ahead of tendrils. Period. They catch up and kill him. Period. There's no "special way" to avoid this. It is mechanically locked.

Well then I suppose either:
1) Morgfyre is lying, or
2) He is unaware of the fact that they were buffed.

Which brings us full circle to the comment about not talking about things you know nothing about.
For the record, it's probably #2
