And if anyone is starting a new game, I'd like to sign up for it.

So, some feedback I got that I couldn't properly respond to at the time.
"The terrorist is the worst idea ever!" I counter with, "Why'd you lynch a known jester?" Very manageable. The jester could also be nightkilled or turned off by Shayle or Rika, although neither had any reason to believe they could do so.
"We need night reveals!" Yeah, no. I know people tend to be displeased with vanilla townie roles, so I tried to keep them to a minimum...but by sheer force of numbers, that means the town needed a disadvantage. Thus, no reveals. Part of Shamarah's role was that, on his death, all of the roles he had would be revealed. He died awfully early, so I gave Dylara access to a neutered version of Shamarah's power. I can think of a game on this board played with two cops and two doctors, and we owned the faces off the mafia.
"Letting the town talk at night is too powerful!" I can run with this to some degree. However, the town didn't win. The cult won, and the cult did the exact same thing that the spies tried to do, except they did it better.
"The cult was too powerful!" The cult survived based on the strategy detailed by Shiri above. Likewise, the cult was not given full cult powers: recruited folk didn't know each other and were liable to kill each other.
"Our investigators were too weak!" Your...four investigators? Ok. No, they didn't get full role reveals. By standard rules on MafiaWiki, they aren't supposed to. A vanilla cop gets faction and nothing else. Two got night powers, one got faction, one got all kills and lynchings.

Oh yeah, and this is the 2nd use of a gamebreaking strategy: viewing each other's PMs and profiles to see who the scum are. Xenthos got all 3 of the scum this way (which is why I believed him.)
Next time we do this, we should put some kind of warning on the front page along with all the rules so people know to PM directly from the threads (or use IMs, or OOC tells/messages in Lusternia.)
EDIT: Personally, I love Exeryte's role, I wish he could have used it. Dylara and I believed him on the whole ninja thing, but we never posted it so Xavius never knew and could give him superpowers.
EDIT2: The colours were just to piss everyone off by the way. How many people caught onto that before I told them? I know Sham did.

I suspected Ayisdra and Visaeris right away, but no one believed me.
And I was planning on revealing that I was a ninja this upcoming day, but I guess that never worked out.

Did you pre-plan to give Dylara this in the event of Shamarah's death?

Just for shits and giggles, would you mind explaining what you mean by "Xenthos got all 3 of the scum this way"? I thought I was careful not to view anyone's profile.
Ayisdra viewed both our profiles and Xavius' and nobody elses.

The original plan was to give Dylara her role as it existed in the end from the beginning, but I decided that I didn't want to have people cross-verifying information like that. Creates too much trust. When Shamarah died right away, I felt bad for the town, so I restored Dylara's role. But, to answer your exact question, no. The plan was that the reveal of all those roles on Shamarah's death would be enough for the town to mop up.
If it makes you feel better, Dylara only used it once.

Well that's just plain evil, then. the townies. No mercy!

Dylara had.. a very limited group of lynched people alive.
So listening was just better.

Vis. the terrorist: sure, but they would screw with our votes and waste our time forever. We also couldn't actually confirm terrorist, or a scum could fake jester and be unlynchable (no policemen to prove jester, remember: and even that is too much.)
At worst, the terrorist should win and blow up one of (or the first of) the people voting him. NOT game over the town. Come on. There's no role that there should be such a ridiculous disincentive not to suspect.
Vis. the cult: they would have won anyway, I think. There was no real way we could have defeated them, particularly when Rika died to mod mistake.
Vis. the night talking: I could go either way on this.
Vis. the cops: the fact the cops were limited wasn't a problem, it was limited cops + this cult thing that screwed us over.
Vis. the night reveals: yeah, not revealing those was fine. But again, the cult setup.

I never viewed Rauros profile until near the end....I did view others, but for some reason I must refresh the page (or view it twice in a row) for it to show up on their visiter's page.....and it seems I forgot to do that.
Xenthos2008-06-19 04:16:23
Role reveals on death wouldn't have helped once the Government thing went down (since that was confirmation for me)... but the night talking definitely let the Cult insinuate itself into the town. Don't think it'd have worked so well otherwise.

Not from me! If you spin around in a circle and chant, you might be able to summon Shamarah.
Arix2008-06-19 04:25:00
No, I've been pre-emptively banned from all Shamarah games based on the first game, so if nobody else is running one I'll go see what MafiaScum is cooking up
Casilu2008-06-19 04:49:16
I would host one, but I feel it would be best to play more than two games before I try to host either of the themes I thought of, but I would like to play another.
Rika2008-06-19 06:42:23
See, I knew Visaeris was evil.
Shayle2008-06-19 19:27:49
On the heels of my phone-sex operator fake role claim, this role was particularly amusing.
Aside from being blown up early and playing as a ghost, I enjoyed myself. Thanks, Xavius.
Edit: Oh and...never doubt the power of Shaylthos, or Xayle...or whatever you like to call us
