Don't get too excited. The honor system isn't working, or it's just flat out impossible to gain influence cause we never could.

Yeah, I know, and the method we used to gain that much honour wasn't exactly...special either, but it amused me nonetheless. And hey, we got greathouse! Been looking forward to that a while now.
Gregori2008-06-24 08:07:13
The honour system is hugely bugged. In all fairness d'murani should have far more honour than anyone else given the seats they hold, but you don't seem to get honour from seats, getting honour from offering to a family patron is a joke, and so any new family that reaches great house and aligns with both city and patron will quickly supplant the last as most honourable.
Though I am annoyed that it took 2 days for Mes'ard to be confirmed and Talnara was pretty much instaconfirm. Though we did see that one coming.

Bright side: We have someone to duel for honour now. *summons the d'Murani zerg*

Doesn't matter how fast you were confirmed, does it?
EDIT: Psh, don't see why anyone would accept ranked spars from people that'd beat them, even Talnaras

Yes, as we lost honour from killings while waiting for the confirmation, so ended up dishonourable due to it. Not to mention it is the principle of the matter. We asked Xiel to confirm Mes'ard and were told we had to wait for Kinson. Then less than a minute after Talnara is aligned, Xiel has confirmed them.
Sorry, meant to say killings, not passively. We would have lost the honour anyways, but it wouldn't have dropped us into dishnourable.

Ahh. What does dishonourable do?
Gregori2008-06-24 08:17:07
Mechanically, not a thing.
Rp-wise it is annoying seeing your family listed as Dishonourabl, merely because you are given a song and dance about having to wait for the CL to confirm your House.
Which is why it is annoying to see that Talnara didn't have to wait for the CL to confirm their House, it was confirmed in seconds by the very person who gave the song and dance about having to wait for the CL.

The honour system is just wonky. You can get jumped by a non enemy, kill them defending yourself...and dishonour the house. According to Kaervas, you have to offer huge amounts of essence for it to show up in the logs, but even then it doesn't actually boost your honour. Ours has been a slow, steady drop. We were in the 130s before losing the top spot...now we are in 80s
edit: Counters the Shuyin with the Thoros and a chokemense.

Fair enough. We mainly just went for alignment 'cause...you guys got it, so we thought there couldn't be any harm in it. Dishonourable thing makes sense though.
EDIT: Incidentally, are there any other upcoming greathouses than Dekoven, Talnara, Mes'ard, d'Murani?

Obviously this means that the Talnara should be removed because of Xiels abuse of power

Oh, I have no issue with Talnara getting it. In fact I would have issue with Talnara not getting it. Mes'ard and Talnara are the two oldest families in Serenwilde. I am just annoyed that we were told "you have to wait" for 2 days, then the same "have to wait for the CL" wasn't applied to your family.

This should probably get it's own thread.
Also...n'kylbar, Inalai, Feyranti, La'Saet are all a ways away.

Xiel2008-06-24 08:27:16
Err, just to save myself a bit here. The only reason the Mes'ard got in after that wait? I talked Kinson into allowing the family into being aligned with the commune. He had brought up some issues about the family which ended up with a resounding no before I talked him into opening the possibility up and giving them a chance. And since the Talnara was already up for Great House as well, that decision was already made alongside with the Mes'ard, so if folk would like to continue with assuming that I abused the position I hold, I'd like to clear that up right now.
But in other things, yay Great House.

I guess, I don't know where we'd put it though. If someone wants to start their own they can.
And yeah, they aren't close. Inalai has a whole 5. Heh.

Apparently you can hold more honour for having more seated positions in the family, but they only apply for the allied city.
For example, seated positions in Glomdoring will not apply because d'Murani is linked to Magnagora.
Something like that.

We are fully aware of that, it's not true atm

Hm. Maybe make family honour from offering easier to get?
