From: Morgfyre, the Legion
To : Everyone
Subj: Bannerhouses

Families with 25 members or more are now considered Bannerhouses (or
Lesser Houses). They have access to a news section and family channel,
can contest for elected heads of the family, and can (to a limited
extent) gain and lose honour.

Most notably, Bannerhouses can pledge their fealty to either another
Bannerhouse or to a Great House, contributing 1/4th of their active
membership total towards the active membership of the House they have
pledged to. This will enable smaller Houses to band together to raise a
Great House.

Enjoy!

THANK YOU

I think it sounds pretty cool, too.

Now to get one of my characters into a minor House.
Xenthos2008-06-27 02:38:58
Woo.

Now we just need to be able to merge old, existing small families for no apparent reason.

/me claims Inseira.

Morgfyre is happiness on a shingle with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Marriage comes to mind.

Marriage comes to mind.

Doesn't merge the families, just makes someone inactive in their own and active in the other.
Hazar2008-06-27 03:17:28
That would be how families merge in the real world, too.

Really? That's too bad... Allowing marriages to combine families could make marriage negotiations interesting.

Have Camerick talk to me after class, by the way. tongue.gif

Eh, in the real world you can actually merge multiple small families if they really want to all go live together for whatever reason, with or without marriage, and actually merging instead of remaining disparate entities (well, more of an old-world thing than current in the US, but whatever!)

I thought it was more along the lines of that family swearing fealty and simply pledging their allegiance to another while retaining their own heritage as a house.

Oh well.
Diamondais2008-06-27 04:38:01
Something, again, I'd like to see, partake in and enjoy but likely never will. huh.gif

I like the idea of servants in a Lesser Branch.
Give me please.
Saran2008-06-27 04:54:58
aside from member count does this have any other benefits for the gh?

And lesser houses still progress to gh as normal if they are pledged?

Would it be possible to access a list of all banner houses and great houses somewhere? Perhaps in the Hall of Records.
Hazar2008-06-27 20:24:54
No. RANKINGS HOUSES - would let us see all of them and compare honor.
Prisch2008-06-27 20:26:54
It'll probably be fun for d'Muranis to have a Banner House since Magnagora is so hierarchy to the max.
Unknown2008-06-27 20:41:45
This will be interesting in Mag if we get more historical families. I would love to see if the historical banner houses would still pledge to the great houses or if they would give them the finger.
