Just wanting to toss a few ideas here. I know that several of them have been stated many times, but I can't recall where or when so I'm laying them out here. Anyone with information, ideas, or comments please say?

-Non-Alcoholic drinks
Allow us to make juices, flavoured waters (Lemonades, throw some juice and other things into water), teas, that sort of thing. Tired of "I can distill whiskey, but I need to go to a fountain to get some fresh squezed orange juice."

-Mugs/Tankards
Give woodcraft the ability to make wooden mugs. Allow artisans to make fancy mugs and tankards that last a long time (Dwarven Heirlooms anyone?). Have them hold 1/4 or 1/5 of a bottle, multiple drinks from the mug/tankard.

-Added Flavours
Would it be viable to allow cooks to add a little bit of their own flavouring? I'm unsure, but maybe one cook might add a bit of saffon on top, or maybe burned it a little. Maybe allow cooks to add a single line after the examined desc? I highly doubt it, but I'd like to see it.

Edit: Maybe a list of preset herbs to sprinkle on top, or herbs to garnish the plate with. Or, a cartel's signature. Maybe allow cooking cartels (Or, all cartels) to create and submit a signature garnish to allow them to add. Maybe make garnishes an entire ability in cooking. All it'd do is add to the examined and consumed. Just use 1 spices, or whatever commodity specified.

Just a few ideas.

More variety in alcoholic drinks would be nice too. People must be bored with pretty much no choices to design in those categories.

Out of interest, in both bumping this topic and adding to the topic, would it be balanced to allow certain foods to be enchanted with certain spells? Soup that can make you waterwalk would be awesome. Steak that makes you grow bigger, salads which shrink you.

More glasses, the ability to mark bottles, and having pouring bottles into glasses made more user friendly. And maybe MULLING, DISTILLING, and BREWING, go to the next available bottle.

No, I imagine it wouldn't.

Also, apart from the novelty factor, why?

First of all, I have to say I know that non-alcoholic drinks have been bandied around for ages. It's a great idea and I would love it, but because of non-committent in previous RL years, I don't see it top of the totem pole.

Second, the reason alcoholic drinks are less variant is that they are boring to make. There's no dropped appearance or taste or smell. We are restricted to a very limited amounts of spirits and brews and wines. They don't portion so whatever alcoholic drink you make is expensive and time consuming. Nobody buys glasses of drinks really, so why bother splitting them? Why would any sane cook make any new alcoholic drinks when dishes are so much better to make?

drinks going to the next available bottle be nice, I hate having to but a bottle my pack just so I can brew more. Having spirits, brews and wines with their own distinct taste and smell would be nice and being able to fill glasses without having to drop them. If you could set glasses on top of furniture like tables and desk that would be good. I'd like to see a different variety of glass besides shot glasses like wine glasses for wine and tankards for brews and spirits like Jigan said

Yeah doesn't brewing mention tea in the AB?
Jigan2008-07-21 06:25:02
New idea.

Brewing kegs. I'd like to be able to make a keg full of X whiskey/moonshine/wine/ale/etc and just allow people to fill bottles or glasses from it. I'd like to be able just to have kegs of such and such alcohols and not have to fiddle too much with bottles.

YES! I would love to brew kegs!

I mean, people drink from kegs right?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

I can just see it:

Arin taps into a keg of Aquamarine wine and fills himself a glass.

Arin sips a glass of Aquamarine wine. (x10)

Arin says, "Y'know... y'know, that's good wine."

Arin taps into a keg of Aquamarine wine and fills himself a glass.

Arin sips a glass of Aquamarine wine. (x10)

Repeat about 5 times.

Arin says, "Yous, know... Yous know... thatsh good whyine. I love you guys."

Arin falls unconcscious.

Refill Bottle with ale

That sort of thing.

yes yes yes dear god yes please! I'd LOVE to be able to sell, say, a glass full at a time in a restaurant concept shop. smile.gif

I think posting this is allowed....

Brews: Brew teas and other beverages, including ales.

No mention in the actual AB file.

Arin2008-08-01 22:41:50
Is that in AB COOKING?
Saran2008-08-02 08:29:49
But isn't there teamakers coming soon anyway?
Arin2008-08-02 10:45:11

Pour a love potion in your soup, and you have something straight out of The Joye of Snackes...
