I must say, after looking around other muds Lusternia really stuck out for me with the extensive races to the cool guilds to satisfy anyones play style.

I used to play Aetolia a while back, and I had a few issues with it that *seem* to be better in Lusternia.
Like the fact that the playerbase seemed to be made up of whiny emo kids drawing lines on their forearms with red markers and preteen girls pretending to be loligoths. It was one of those *if you aren't obsessed with sex or griefing GTFO*.

So do our admins!
They still haven't released the promised new continent/guild have they?

Are you kidding? They haven't even come close. Unless there's been an update since yesterday, they haven't even solved the issue of two entire classes being unable to compete in PvP without unfair advantage(ie posse of mean hombres following them around )

When I get annoyed with Achaea, I come to Lusternia for a few months. My character here is 30 years old, level 16, and has played 16 hours. Which is really bad and I bet people wonder why a 30 year old is still in the collegium. At any rate, when I start on a Lusternia kick, it's almost like taking a breath of fresh air. The people are great and very helpful. I have had 2 people asking how I'm doing already within the hour I've popped on. In Achaea, that's unheardof. Their class channel does nothing but run newbies off from the game. It's basically gone from newbie-friendly to "let's mock and rule over whoever we can before they flee". The theft is horrid. All you have to do is sit still for a few seconds outside a city, and sometimes inside one, and you're either robbed or someone attempts to do so. All Achaea really holds for me is familiarity, thousands of dollars worth of credits (which, I loathe to waste), and a system.
I tried Aetolia for maybe a week back about a year ago. It's interesting, but no one was ever there. I'm not sure about the others. I guess what draws me back to Achaea is the fact that there are always people there to talk with. Here, there just doesn't seem to be anyone around even if I tried to attempt RPing. That isn't to say I don't like Lusternia. It's truly a great game and the player base is one of the best I've come across. I just haven't ever played long enough to get involved in the PK or anything. Systems seem to be easier to find in Achaea, which helps a ton with non-programmers being able to participate in PK. Heck, I couldn't even figure out how to make an autosipper. Which lead to my heading back to Achaea about 6 months ago to where I already had one, heh.
By the way, if any of you know how to make one, hit me up on a PM please! Maybe I'll stick around this time and see if I can find something to do without being so confused. Oh, and I was thrilled to find that Lusternia has the maps as well. Very good! That'll help newbies a lot.

There are free systems out for most clients. Which client do you use?

Zmud.
And sorry for the derail.

While we're derailed, I use Portal.

One thing I love about Lusternia compared to other IRE games is the complete lack of infinite repetition of the newbie cannibalism joke.
Shiri2008-08-02 11:33:33
Which is funny considering how much necromancers eat newbies anyway. Do they even have that in Achaea?

I heard it tons when I first started here.

I've never been competent anywhere but here, so all my opinions are biased. But Lusternia rocks. And I think we have the best team of divine, hands down.
Gwylifar2008-08-03 02:34:52
Okay, well, the complete lack of the infinite repetition of the newbie cannibalism joke in the guilds I've been involved with at one point or another, anyway.
Khons2008-08-03 17:12:41
I started playing Achaea almost the exact same way I started playing Lusternia. I can tell you hands down, from my little experience with this game, that it is much, much better.
The player interaction is superb. My guildmates actually give a crap about what happens to me, and do their damndest to help me out when I need it. When you ask a question, it gets answered, which was something that didn't happen alot of the time in Achaea.
There are still guilds here. I ushered in the House Era as the First HouseLeader for my guild/house. I had to choose between giving up the ideals of the guild, or members. That sucked. A guild is a very tight knit group, just like the ones we have here. I wouldn't change that for the world.
I haven't had any personal interaction with the Divine, but from everybody else I hear nothing but awe inspiring stories. Heck, Fain makes regular appearances on my city channel. In Achaea, that rarely happened.
Those are the differences as I see them, and they are going to be the things that keep my playing.

Just as a comparison point: In Achaea, a rather nice character was recently robbed of 5 million gold that just happened to have popped back into her inventory as she was outbid in an auction. The thief is keeping every single coin.
The general response is: It's her fault for letting herself get robbed. She should have had selfishness up, should not have been unresponsible in her grove, should have better antitheft.
Which I guess works to a point... but 5 million gold?

Unknown2008-08-09 02:08:43
Oh yeah. I just read about that as a matter of fact and it's sickening. 5 million gold is the equivalent of over $400 of real life money. I'm sorry, but this is one of the more obvious reasons theft simply shouldn't be permitted in any form. People spend a ton of cash for credits only to risk having all of it stolen if they decide to sell them in game for currency. Frankly, I don't see how they stay afloat and stay away from law suits. But that's another subject altogether. They lost a good player and a credit buyer with her because she said she wasn't coming back. Which has happened a lot lately.
I'm so glad theft and crappy players aren't running wild here too.
