I'm giving up and writing my own client (which I guess isn't really exactly giving up).

So long as you keep up the system making. tongue.gif

That would be the part I'm giving up on (for now). I'll write a whole new system for the whole new client, of course. It'll just take me a couple years until I can use it, probably.

I should offer rewards for people who actually fix/improve my combat system, just hire me some "contractors" to do all the work. biggrin.gif

Zarquan, are you being serious? I can't really tell. If so, I will hunt you down and make you finish Treant. dry.gif

You see what I mean, people are hard to read. tongue.gif

Well, I was referring to CMUD system lag. The issue is tons of people who use any form of complex scripting are experiencing command line lag, system lockups, etc. Post about it and it's totally your fault according to everyone playing crap like Aardwolf or Nodeka where scripting is limited to moving to the next room when you kill something.

I am being serious, though I'll probably do some more work on Treant yet before I throw in the CMUD towel. I am actually writing my own client, but I can't say yet if it'll ever be available for others to use.

And, I have no problems giving refunds to anyone who purchased Treant already. So, don't worry about that. Heh.

Ok, hunting down time.

It's too bad that CMUD's such a piece of trash.. In principle, it's amazing.. Like Events.. It's so easy to make things modular and clean and pretty.. and it should work.. But it's just junk. Nothing works like it should, stuff just gets mysteriously corrupted and breaks

It's like he's thrown out all the good things he did with zMUD for whatever reason.. Infuriating.

system lag is where you cannot enter commands at all.

EG during combat spam you try to type or hit macros and they don't come out instantly.

If cmud is entering commands and you can do your thing but no text is being received from the mud, it's because your internet has aids.

Thanks murph. yes that's what I have, System lag. No macros or alias's come out instantly. Except that im using Zmud with Palisde2.

Are you using ww0 version? Zmud has insane issues with auto-wrapping.

CMUD works great. If you have Vista, have a pretty powerful machine, and your complex scripts aren't written in a way that CMUD doesn't like. Not that there really is anyway of knowing what scripts it won't like except through trial and error. And understanding the various phases of the moon it responds best to.

EDIT: It's really not that bad and most of the quirks you get used to and know what's going on when soemone describes it but some of the less obvious program lag problems between two people using the exact same system on the exact same application is pretty annoying.

Any advice on keeping it stable? I've downloaded the most recent non-beta release and it still crashes like first-run Microsoft software. I'm not talking complex things here either. More like making variables. Making triggers...

The crashes I have seen have all been related to loading saved settings with windows which cause some kind of GUID conflict and some rare crashes dealing with the settings editor getting confused. I have never had a single crash while I have actually been playing.

I suggest closing the settings editor after making any significant change and do not run connected to the mud with the settings editor open if you can avoid it.

Catarin's system rocks and I highly recommend it, I run on an old 1.8 GHZ Pentium M laptop with 2 gigs of ram and the only time I see any slowdown is when I am in a 10+ person fight.

So far I did what Vathael wanted me to and I am going to do some test spars to see if it actually had worked and the system lag had ceased.
