Fishing for Paladin information...

I was chatting with Shiri on MSN (ok, talking his ear off and he pretended to enjoy hearing it tongue.gif) and I began to wonder about something. I am kind of in a bind with Simimi, yet again. I have 2 issues I am dealing with presently.

1) I have saved up a bit of credits (about 1000(Arix you still owe me some)) and I am torn as to what to do with them.
2) I am wondering about Warriors, specifically Paladins.

I have a warrior alt and I enjoy it very very much. I do not know why but there is just -something- about Simimi. I love lusternia as my alt, but as Simimi it is... just not as interesting. I do not know why from an ooc or from an ic standpoint. I am trying to figure this out. This thread is for people to:

A. Give me advice on how to spend my credits. and
B. Argue about Tahtetso Vs. Paladins.

Shiri mentioned that as a Dracnari, bashing as an Axelord (I would probably choose Axelord) might be better for me than as a Tahtetso, given my stats and not having acrobatics. I was interested in this. So tell me, how is being a Paladin, really? Is forging worth it? Fullplate Vs Fieldplate? I'm fishing for information here folks, help me out. Would the Paladins want me even? Who knows!

6000 data points later on 1/2 weapons, I can tell you that forging is worth it and forging is ridiculously maddening at the same time.

Paladins are the least offensive of the four Knights, but have a high survivability rating.

Axelord is good, probably tied for second best spec with Pureblade. Paladins take anyone, we are the village bicycle.

Dracnari though? Bleh.

I'm certain the Paladins would take you. Overall I think the Paladins are great and I won't deny I've wanted to change Sheia over to one but I just don't have the heart to leave the Celestines. I would say Fullplate as Forging is really the best trade for Warriors in my opinion. Hmm not sure what to do with 1000 credits though.
Desitrus2008-07-09 15:55:41
Assuming you plan on Min/Maxing those credits:

1. Tri-trans guild skills
2. Trans forging
3. Buy a Hammer of forging and chain yourself to a forge until you have
3a. 3 sets of fullplate. 122+/85+, 85+/122+, and 106+/106+
3b. 90+/90+ helm
3c. x/420/240 Klangaxe
3d. 350+/x/190+ Waraxe
4. Trade in Hammer, buy 2x elemental for the waraxe, 2x 10% wounding and 2x 10 stats for the klangaxe. (if there are enough credits)
5. Dagger of Reincarnation because let's face it. Dracnari is awful as far as Paladins go. Unless your roleplay is hinged on it and then /facepalm.

Just out of curiosity how long would forging all of that take? On the order of 100+ hours?

All of it? 300+ hours probably. Not even kidding.
vorld2008-07-09 17:21:27
why 3 fullplates?

If you know that you'll be facing one type of wounding specifically, based on opponents available or what-have-you, wearing the "spec plate" for that damage type will greatly reduce wounds in an exponential fashion.

One health application heals 800 health, and here is the "scale" for 225/245 rapiers with 10% wounding against Cutting Resist:

QUOTE
Cutting: 0 Normal hit: 1193 Lunge 2p: 1908

Cutting: 49 Normal hit: 723 Lunge 2p: 1158

Cutting: 59 Normal hit: 688 Lunge 2p: 1101

Cutting: 109 Normal hit: 323 Lunge 2p: 514

Cutting: 133 Normal hit: 152 Lunge 2p: 246

So as you can see, having "spec plate" is a ridiculous bonus.
vorld2008-07-09 17:28:42
Interesting... goes forging

You are a madman shocked.gif
Simimi2008-07-09 21:59:26
This information is actually intriguing to me. I did always love how Masterplate is permanent out of the forge.
Desitrus2008-07-10 14:38:24
Just so you get a real feel for it. With a Mallet of Forging I have now had 6200 successful forgings and have 1 out of 2 weapons needed for a set of one-handers.

And I can't stop. It's like ProgressQuest only I can chat.

I was under the impression you already had all your Blademaster swords. Unless you went Bonecrusher, in which case your spec switching/ forging points to a hatred of money, yourself, and your Lusternia character. biggrin.gif

I occasionally exercise my trade skill to try and make money by taking orders. Stupid, I know. Your sig reminds me that I need to do that too, be right back...

Edit: har har
Karnagan2008-07-10 14:58:26
Make money? With Forging? Pffffft, that's even stupider than what I thought you were doing. tongue.gif Everyone knows that the only reason to take Forging is for teh weapon runeses and 4331 fullplate.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm surprised we don't have other IRE combatants banging down the door to try and be the next Insta-100. You deserved it the most out of the Celestians who were available. At least you never pointed out the difficulties OTHER orgs have been having in making picks...

It's because forging works like this:

Step 1: Take forging, because it seems like an interesting and beneficial trade to take, and even has venues from wich to express your creativity.

Step 2: Forge your first masterweapons. Get excited about finding an all metal design you like. Sit with anticipation, thinking about how much all this work will pay off.

Step 3: Realize exactly how long you're sitting in one place doing nothing just so you can do what other people do anyway. Dwell on this for a bit, since you've got nothing better to do.

Step 4: Realize why forging hammers, while not conveying any benefit to the end product, are considered essential.

Step 5: So sad is the world, but I have Kevorkian Scarf. Around my neck.

Step 6: Finish your own weapon. Swear that this is the last weapon.

Step 7: Get ambitious and offer your forging services over market. Be assailed by people who want you to repeat steps 2-6 for the costs of materials. Figure out that, you could probably make more money weeviling for what people are often willing to pay, considering the time involved.

Step 8: Still having nothing to do, grow bitter and angry at the outside world for not understanding your plight. Begin to resent them, and their unsinged hair, and their frolicking under the Great Light In The Sky that you've heard stories about.

Step 9: Resolve that, "you'll show them, you'll show them all."

Step 10: Yeah, they want you to think there's a step 10. But it's a lie. A beautiful lie.

Step 11: You resolve to show them all by forging more. This is clearly the greatest idea you've ever had.

Step 12: You snap, and bury the forums in semi-sensical posts and LOLCATS and fuming rage at the thing you're doing for "fun" until by some miracle you finish the current piece (Desitrius complex) OR you withdraw fully into your forging alternate reality and plot the takeover of the basin. Through forging. (Halamir complex)

So true. biggrin.gif
Desitrus2008-07-11 05:26:38
8k+ tries and still only one of a pair. How soon is this being fixed again?
Unknown2008-07-11 05:28:50
8K tries for what, out of curiosity? I've actually stop forging as much, I only really do it now if I really really need something, though another 33/235/201 rapier would be nice. dribble.gif

I went the other way for his wounding hammers. 33/200/230 nummers.

This is for the guy's flails though. Only looking for 170+/x/185+. I've forged at least 3 of similar or better quality in the past, just not having any luck this time.
