Flowerpot Spam

Very simply, I am at 8000+ messages total, mostly because I never delete any. However, several hundreds of those, if not a thousand, are ... flowerpot spam.

In other words, if you have a flowerpot artifact and your flower decays -in- the flowerpot you get a decay message. Now imagine how spammy that gets if the pot can hold 6 flowers and they decay every 6 rl days. I logged in one day after -weeks- of not reading messages and had to weed through all that. And that's supposed to be an artifact? Fail.

A (probably) very simple fix would be to simply make flowers in the flowerpot -not- decay. They stay there until you take them out. You already -cannot- put -any- items into the flowerpot, including the flowers you took out, so I really don't see how it could be abused or similar things. It would simply reduce that bloody message spam.

So please? pray.gif

EDIT: Could this also be extended to flowers in gardens by any chance? You don't harvest, well they remain there.. more or less.

That's a good solution. It'd also mean if you don't harvest, you never get anything new, which makes sense.

Can flowers in my garden not decay, either? Please?

As long as you don't get spammed with messages when they do .........

I don't because it's not "on" me (it's in my manse), but it's supposed to be an upgraded flowerpot (50cr more!). I should be able to have a garden with 12 of those little iris-flowers if I want. sad.gif

Edited. Now support my cause! Viva la revolution!

But isn't the garden meant to sprout different flowers for you to give away or sell? Or wear purty things?

I actually like my garden flowers to decay once in a while so I see new ones every so often.

Can always pick something from it if you don't like it or want to make more room. I used to do that to make my garden full of iris-flowers for someone who loved the things, but I only ever got to 5 at most because of the decay.

I agree with this change. There must be several characters no longer around who have flowerpots, and having them is only generating a lot of decay messages. Does having a lot of messages contribute to lag here at all? I know back on Achaea it was really bad at one point, so they made people delete their messages, coded in a way to delete many messages at once, and threatened (I'm not sure it's been followed through on) to delete messages older than 30 RL days unless you specifically preserve them.

I'd agree with this! I'm terribly worried about the message spam I will see from flowers next week. sad.gif

Have it as a new plus with Maylea around. The Goddess figured out a trick to make flowers bloom forever when trapped in aether essence (flower pots, gardens) and Her love for all things fragrant deemed that She immediately bestowed this knowledge to the gnomes who make said artifacts (and blessed to current artifacts with a rainbow of love.)

Not really. I don't see why I should pay several hundred credits to get spammed. -Especially- if it would be so easy to fix.
