Vis- They most likely stole from me, because they either didn't believe I didn't really have that much money, or it was personal. As in, from last game.
*eye Arix*

And I don't take things from game to game like some people.

Thul is now posting in colour? Why is this. Anyways, if all you merchant hat people convert to the eye patch and Amarysse votes we can just be done with this whole bit and move on to the real focus: defending the townfellowship

Dude! Pay attention.

Thul had his first post from yesterday in blue also. He said he has to do it periodically, probabbly has something to do with being a water mage.

He claims he will die, but if he is a thief he could also be a liar.

The Merchant's story sounds more plausible than the eye patch story. Who kills someone they hired? They just don't pay them or take money from them.

Also, anyone know what a merchant hat even looks like? tongue.gif

Uh, the mafia? "You fail me I break your legs/cut your throat"? It's not a concept without precedent. Plus I like eyepatches and rapiers.

I don't know, when you really get down to it we're just shooting in the dark, so why don't we all just.. Shoot at the same target? Why must this really matter?

It's just that you said you were poor, and then Vis got 500 gold, so why would someone rob you instead of Vis? I'm just trying to make sense of it

Cause someone was probabbly protecting him?
Lorick2008-07-17 05:16:46
Eh, merchants story checks out more to me.

Ok, if he is working for the mafia, why would we want to help the mafia get thier goods?
Amarysse2008-07-17 05:18:16
Having considered both stories, I'm inclined to

Help the man with the eye-patch.

As one is armed, and the other doesn't seem to be, it seems entirely possible to me that the man in the large hat would have suffered some grievous wound by this point if his story were, indeed, true. Perhaps the man claiming to be a merchant is simply an opportunist- he may actually be a merchant, but don't highwaymen and bandits generally move about in groups?

Ideally, we'd be able to question both of them about the contents of the pack and to whom they were bound, thereby determining who was being truthful.

What? I was talking about the real life mafia. It's very conceivable that someone would kill their employee for failing them in a D&D world.

"checks out more"? he could be packing heat in his backpack. Just because he has a merchant hat doesn't mean he's a merchant. Both of them look scruffy. We know very little about this situation.

In any case we're now at 3/5, with the 3 holdouts for the merchant. Could you guys please just switch over so we can lock in the challenge, see what happens, and start focusing on the important stuff?

Well, if the man with the patch is the victim, then the 'merchant' could easily have looked in the pack in the time it took to get away from the sleeping person, so maybe that might not work

Right, but logically, he wouldn't know where he's supposed to be taking them, if that's the case.

In either case, "Talk to both of them about the situation and try to resolve it diplomatically" doesn't seem to be an option.
Daganev2008-07-17 05:22:34
Man with the merchant hat could be a wizard... again, what does a merchant hat look like?

Google says its this:

Also, how much gold did Lorick lose? if he was poor then it shouldn't be much, I'm sure one of us can help him out within reason

Right, it's not an option. We need to pick one and run with it, and 5 people have picked Eyepatch. I don't see any real reason for the other 3 to hold out, because in the end we have very very little information and can't make a good decision. So we'll just have to go with a popular decision, as a group.

Or he could be a grown up version of Pinocchio. Seriously? Seriously you're going to run this angle? Don't overthink it. Christ almighty.
Xenthos2008-07-17 05:24:45
I see little reason to change my mind at this point-- if you wish to go the other way, you may, but I personally feel a desire to help out the one who makes a more honest living, and I believe his story more than the other's.
Amarysse2008-07-17 05:25:39
Agreed, O Slayer of Wyrms. At least with the leadership election, we could pressure people for information and ideas. We don't have the capability of doing that in this scenario.

WHo to help

Or?

Rika2008-07-17 05:27:49
This is Balizar's game. Therefore, vote help man with eyepatch. Really, we're just flipping a coin here. Either side is likely to be as bad as the other.
Lorick2008-07-17 05:28:56
Yeah, merchant's story checks out more for me. Welcome to switch.

Arix- Eh, I'd rather catch the theif before someone handed me gold. That would just make it easier to determine who had the most, and who to steal from.
