Ok, so on the one side we have
"This story makes sense, lets support it"
On the other side we have:
"It doesn't matter what we do, lets just go with random guesses!"
Three cheers for our clear minded, patient and thoughtful leader!

I see little reason to change my mind at this point-- if you wish to go the other way, you may, but I personally feel a desire to help out the one who makes a more honest living, and I believe his story more than the other's.
What're the chances the other 4 eyepatch voters will switch to the merchant hat guy since his voting block is the stubborn faction in the group? The fact that they're operating on some nebulous belief that one story somehow has more validity than the other means it'll be impossible to convince them otherwise. Amarysse, Thul, Silvanus, Arix, you guys open to switching?

Except for the part where I've said, at least once, that both stories could be equally valid. Both stories make sense. Both stories are MEANT to make sense. No challenge will be clear cut. It's always going to be "well I sort of guess". There's no "man the merchant is totally telling us the truth, it's so obvious". It's all just guesses and :censor:, or at least this one is.

That post was written before Rika voted, it's at 6 now so I'm honestly not of the opinion the burden's on us anymore. They seem to be holding out for the simple sake of holding out, and haven't actually offered any particular evidence, they've simply said they believe one over the other and damn the rest of the group or moving forward with things.

Are you helping the guy in the eye patch just because of the way he looks?

The "stubborn faction"? What a remarkable claim. Regardless, I believe the merchant over a vagabond. I do understand that you wish to hammer through a decision, but I do not agree with the decision, and I personally have much more desire to help the merchant. You wish to do what is expedient. It was, however, three-and-three, so if you had switched your vote at that point we'd have had the momentum on this side. You did not change then, so why expect me to do so now?

He is not a merchant. He claims he is a merchant. They're both scruffily dressed. One has an eyepatch. One has a hat that is similar to a merchant.
Why do you believe him so readily over the other?
Lorick2008-07-17 05:35:10
It seems odd than unarmed individual wearing such odd clothing managed to fleece such a well armed, experienced individual who does look like a vagabond.

My god you are an ass.
Seriously.. Its like you don't even read other peopel's posts, or if you do, you forget what they wrote 10 minutes later.
Why don't we just randomly lynch people every day and see what happens? Full steam ship ahead! Lets just go play dice.
Can everyone do me a favour and just lynch me today? I feel like we have allready lost with this impatient meathead.
Lorick2008-07-17 05:37:05
Erm, lets calm down guys... We are all in this together. Well, some of us are getting strung up for smaller belt pouches, but mainly together.

Who says he's unarmed? Maybe he's got a weapon in his pack, or hidden under his clothes.
The only odd piece of clothing is a hat. A hat he may have stolen from a merchant he killed.
Why is he a vagabond? Because he has an eyepatch? Maybe he's a war hero who was wounded, or a noble mercenary engaged in transporting goods as he claims.
Arix2008-07-17 05:37:31
Sort of, Daganev. I'm voting on him based on my distrust of merchants, and my belief that just because someone is wearing an eyepatch and looks scruffy, doesn't mean he's a bandit. Just like someone wearing a merchant's hat does not make him a merchant. I'm also aware that both of them could be playing us for fools, but that hasn't come up yet.

What vagabond carries about a merchant's hat while fleeing for his life? What vagabond is not armed, would not defend himself, or perhaps just finish off the lone "deliverer" while he was sleeping instead of simply taking the goods? It simply does not make sense to me that someone would go out of his way to steal some goods and not take any basic precautions whatsoever, but still has the good sense to carry around a disguise just in case he managed to find a well-armed party on the road.
Arix2008-07-17 05:39:25
And yes, someone could easily hide a sword under their clothing, or a knife. I believe it was common practice in medieval days to carry a knife, although that may not be relevant here

Perhaps it's simply his hat. Everyone needs headgear. Maybe it's comfortable.
Maybe he is a coward and can't bear the sight of blood, or he has a particular code that prevents him from killing anyone.

Why are you so hellbent on believing this guy over the other? I'd be asking these same questions if the plurality was with the merchant and 2-3 people were sticking with the eyepatch guy.
Lorick2008-07-17 05:41:08
We've stated our reason why we feel it is odd, and you've claimed you guys like eye-patches. And distrust of merchats (which I can understand).
