We have no way of knowing, based on the stories we've been given and the limited information contained therein, which of them is telling the truth.

The "merchant" claims to be on the way to the city to sell his goods. He's wearing a hat that looks like that of a merchant, but he is as rough-looking and winded as the other fellow. He states that the second man is a thief who is attempting to kill him.

The "rogue" claims to be charged with transporting these goods between villages/cities. He also claims that he will be hunted if the goods are not transported. His story is that the other man stole his belongings while he slept.

I side with the gentleman with the eyepatch for two main reasons:

1. I'm not willing to run the risk that his life might be forfeit if we elect to help the other man.

2. While the "merchant" claims that the "rogue" is trying to murder him, there's been no attempt at violence so far as we can tell, and I don't believe it was obvious that the "bandit" was actually brandishing his weapon. Said "rogue" also stated plainly that if he'd meant harm to the "merchant" it would've happened already.

Even having said that, we have no way to be certain that either is telling the truth. We can only make a decision based on what we believe is best, under the circumstances.

We've stated our reason why we feel it is odd, and you've claimed you guys like eye-patches. And distrust of merchats (which I can understand).

You've failed to answer why you trust him so much, when the truth is there are a million reasons he could be lying. Just as the eyepatch fellow could be lying. I don't trust either of them.

Or maybe he's not.

Why are you so hellbent on believing this guy over the other? I'd be asking these same questions if the plurality was with the merchant and 2-3 people were sticking with the eyepatch guy.

I have given you my reasonings. Simply thinking about the matter, there is more support for his claims than this vagabond has. And, again, you did at one point have the power to easily get one vote closer to ending this quickly by simply switching, but you decided to debate the matter instead. This is my personal decision, and I have cast my vote. I do hope that others will hear these words and be tempted to change their hasty decision, but many of those voting for the one with the eyepatch are doing so simply for "a hasty decision". I prefer thinking it through.

Or you know, the sword in his hand.

If he was a coward, he wouldn't be stealing from a man with a sword.

If someone stole my stuff and I had a sword I'd chase after them with it.

And are you kidding me? Stealing from someone while they sleep is tremendously cowardly.

Like I said, I don't care who gets the help. An argument could be constructed for either side, and it's a shabby argument either way.

I've thought about the matter, and I don't agree. I don't believe that the so-called merchant is any more likely to be accurate than the guy with the sword.

Amar makes some good points. And, to be honest, considering people aren't going to budge on the issue of pirate love, I might as well or we will have another 40 pages.

Help the man with the eye-patch

No problem, just help me catch that damn theif, before we are all broke.
Silvanus2008-07-17 05:50:15
If it comes down to it.

I say we play rock paper scissors.
Amarysse2008-07-17 05:50:29
I've thought it through, and I've given my reasons. Unfortunately, there's no clear-cut answer, as far as I can tell. Vote based on your deductive skills, or your conscience, but a choice has to be made.

And, to answer the question posed earlier, I'm not inclined to change my vote because I don't believe it was made frivolously.
Arix2008-07-17 05:50:52
How much did you lose, Lorick?
Lorick2008-07-17 05:51:28
If it matters, I'll bring it up.

i'd definitely like to, since I'm sitting on the leader bonus.
Rika2008-07-17 05:52:34
The merchant hat man could just have been walking along and saw the eyepatched man asleep. Saw the pack and decided it would be a good idea to run off with it. That's totally viable to me.
Lorick2008-07-17 05:54:46
Then that guys sucks for a guard.
Rika2008-07-17 05:54:51
We're at seven, right?
Lorick2008-07-17 05:55:17
Should be.
Rika2008-07-17 05:55:25
I didn't think he was a guard. Just a delivery person.
Lorick2008-07-17 05:56:00
And you place life or death bounties and those people?
Unknown2008-07-17 05:56:31
vote help man with eyepatch You know what, merchants are going to take a chance to profit when they see it. If the mans story is true then it really is not that suprising for a merchant to pull something like that. The man wouldn't know, he would never see the merchant again.
Lorick2008-07-17 05:57:20
Well, that should be enough.
