Nominate Visaeris for leader: Vis is difficult to get a read on, but of the people who have come forward for leader role, I think his claim complements it the best.

His accent seems to wax and wane, a remarkable feat... and somewhat unbelievable, but there it is nonetheless.

I think that is precisely why I'm better for the leadership role.
I am the least suited. I am the most expendable. And I don't have people jumping on my bandwagon to nomination like Daganev, Arix and Thul (two of whom provided little reason for it).

Well, this is definitely an interesting event. Hail, travelers! And well-met. You do appear strong, Slogoth, but I do not know if that fully fits the requirements of being our leader. It seems to me that someone who also knows the land between here and wherever we're headed would be a better fit-- while you claim to be well-equipped to slay a Dragon, surely there is much more we will face along the way.
Might any of you be better equipped than our good friend Slogoth here? I can understand being reluctant, but if you are not willing to admit to some expertise that will aide us in our travels, it seems we have little other choice than to accept him at his word for now.

And I didn't catch this one the first time around since I was skimming, but... sigh.
Arix2008-07-15 23:25:02
Ok, my reason to pick Daganev is this: I like money, and if a dwarf is leading the party, there's always that chance he'll wanna shortcut through some ancient forgotten tunnel/cave system that is filled with things I can liberate from their long dead owners, or through a dwarven stronghold filled with awesome blacksmiths that can make cool weapons and armor
Arix2008-07-15 23:26:06
And that sounds more like a Tully restriction than a Gimli

Ye find it suspicious also? I was not sure if it be suspicious or not.

Well Bianca, as much as you might be the least suited, I would not be surprised if there were extra challenges or some important decisions put on the leader. I don't think we should be looking so much for the "least expendable" as the "best suited", and I've got the brain to make sure that the right decisions are made, plus I'm less likely to die and thus I'll be able to keep making those important decisions.
Again, that's all assumption. Unfortunately we don't have anything to go on but assumption. It may very well be that the leader is a meaningless position that simply has to be staffed, but do you really think that's the case?

Silvanus2008-07-15 23:33:24
No, I do not think that's the case. But you have to understand that this is still a group, and the leader is only one person.
Daganev2008-07-15 23:36:20
Ok Silvanus, why do ye really want to be leader?

So I don't have to whore anymore.
Unknown2008-07-15 23:38:21
True, the leader is one person, however you don't want the leader to be someone easily killed. Most teams, groups or any other thing involving more than one person falls apart when the leader can no longer lead. Like sports and things like that.
Unknown2008-07-15 23:39:44
It is still a group, that's true. The problem is, however, I don't think we're going to get another shot to pick a leader. If that leader dies, we're going to be too busy fighting monsters or negotiating with bandits or whatever to take the time to pick someone new if our leader dies.
Hence, survivability trumps expendability in a high visibility role.
In any case, I've made my case well, and I'll speak no more of it unless asked about any point or a question is directed my way.
I stand by my claims and my explanations as to why I'm the best choice for leader, and I encourage all of you to vote for me. Regardless of who gets the job, I strongly recommend that the Doctor toss a protection onto the Leader for Night 1.

Why am I shown as not only voting twice, but voting for myself?

Also, as an interesting point, Bianca stated that he liked his job as a whore, and furthermore that it might save his life. Now he's saying he doesn't want to whore anymore and wouldn't have to if he was leader? That seems to be a strange reversal.
Not to mention the shift in reasoning on his part: Earlier he said "But I will say that the best way to get to the top is by spreading your legs and sleeping your way to the top. That is why, I think I'm best suited as leader of this group."
Now he says: "I am the least suited. I am the most expendable." To me that reeks of desperation to get the position, when he's willing to contradict himself so easily.
And that's without speaking to his claims that he likes his job and also doesn't want to keep doing it.

I'm thinking we should not vote anyone who is really gunning for the position as leader. Think about it, if scum is protected from a lynch then they are going to be a lot harder to kill off. That makes the leader position something that we should not give to someone like Daganev who seems to really really want it.
