I saw it three times after waiting for it for what seemed like ages! And I also heard that Heath Ledger took much of his inspiration for Joker from Alex in A Clockwork Orange.
I thought he was brilliant, I loved the moral, but I am afraid of what a letdown the next few movies really could be. They're going to have to find a hell of a person to play Catwoman, or the Penguin, or the Riddler. And I was kind of disappointed at how fast Two Face came and went, and he seemed a little too shallow for what potential he had - still, I loved it!

I actually read somewhere that
Two-Face's death was left ambiguous in case the character would come back,
so... =)I actually was thinking during that part that he might rise up and shoot Gordon in the back =S

I saw Dark Knight at the IMAX. It was so completely incredible. I'm prolly gonna see it again this weekend.
Heath Ledger was beyond awesome, of course. But everyone was good in it. In fact, me and the IT guy were talking the other day about how it's kinda unfair that everyone's making SUCH a big deal about Heath Ledger and ignoring the other really good actors and characters in the movie. We both feel like if Heath was alive, it wouldn't have been quite that way.
I'm really excited to see what they do next.

Damn awesome movie. Does anyone know if they are planning more batman movies along that line?

I think there was a deal for three movies.

Was a good movie, I really enjoyed it... but I dont feel like it lived up to the hype, even though I don't really have any specific complaints about it. I wonder if it would be as popular if Ledger was still around. It would still be popular, of course, but I'm not sure there would be raving about it from every direction like there has been.

I didn't like the atmosphere. Gotham city didn't FEEL like Gotham.

Yeah, this is my only real complaint about the film.
And what happened to the monorail?
Arix2008-08-01 21:43:34
It had possums on it and they had to get rid of it.
(I named the big one Bitey)

Well, they took out the main line of it in the first move, remember? Maybe they decided that it wouldn't be worth it to rebuild?

I don't know, there was an awful lot of monorail and they only took out the bit before the Wayne Industries building as I recall.
Perhaps it's just all those possums, as Arix says.
Arix2008-08-01 21:56:57
And they were still rebuilding Wayne Manor as well
Unknown2008-08-01 22:16:12
The monorail was there. They were driving under the tracks at least twice.

I do. I loved her as Catwoman.
Honestly though, I was a bit disappointed. I grew up with the batman movies before this and the last one. Not the ORIGINAL, but the older ones with Mr. Freeze (Arnold) and Poison Ivy.. The Riddler (Jim) and Two-Face. The penguin and Catwoman.. I liked them better.

Late to the party:
Did get to watch both!
Both fantastic films. Dark Knight impressed me like no other film I can remember, Wall-E charmed me like no other film I can remember. The Joker deserves all his praise (didn't like Batman's fake growl though.) Oh, and the explosions were pretty good.

finally saw the movie last night.
Yes it was awesome.
My wife and mother however made me concede that the plot in the first movie was much better than the plot in this movie.
Gotham really did feel too much like a normal city in its atmosphere in this version.

Isn't that the point? The Joker's actions were greatly magnified by the fact that Gotham really didn't feel like a fictional city.

So sorry to revive this thread.
But I FINALLY got to see the movie. Worth the wait for me, it was extremely good.
Excellence. Joker is my favourite Joker. And people's noticing the symbolism there was great as well.
P.S Somaria, you have bad taste in movies.
