I've searched Newton and Lolliprin for some time now, but the honors quests still escape me. I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction or tell me if I've got the wrong idea? I found the fink springnal and have pushed the rock down the hill to collect the smaller parts, but is all that even part of the honor?

The Newton honors quests are insanely difficult for most newbies - they involve lots of narrow timing and quest mechanics that no one ever quite explains. We can't tell you outright how to do it on the forums, but ask your collegium for help. In the meantime, here are some thoughts.

o Some quest items don't show up like normal items. You need to have VERBOSE room descriptions turned on or LOOK at the room, and then look for nouns and try touching them. This is how you find things like levers and buttons, oftentimes.

o If you find an item, try every possible thing you could do with them.

o Filling many bottles and buckets and the like is counterintuitive - rather than doing something like FILL BOTTLE FROM POOL, you need to PUT BOTTLE IN POOL, then you'll get a 'bottle fills with magic water' message, and than you take it out.

o The newton quests pretty much sew together almost every little quest involved in the area into one long narrative.

I hate to leave newton without having both honors, but I probably don't have the time left that I would need. Experience-wise that is.

The start of the gnome quest is a skein of thread.

The start of the fink quest is a jar of gunk.

If a part stumps you, ask for help on the newbie channel. Quest answer giving is a no-no, but the guides and others are usually willing to give hints on the newton quests.

A bit late on the reply here, but I saw this thread and so I tried doing the quests. Just finished the gnome one! A few hints I found useful:

- The book in the gnome library explains the whole backstory quite a bit. Once I read that, it was all a bit more clear.

- Failed begs worked wonderfully to keep me low enough in xp (although I got booted from the area on the final completion, so I didn't get to see my WMD at work!)

- The bardic skill of majorsixth was amazing, as I was out of portals. Put a milestone at the top of the mountain, and you can always backtrack from there to anywhere you need to go.

To expand on this. A weaver may be interested in the skein. And, a mother may be interested in the gunk.
