I just finished Paragaea by Chris Roberson, right now I'm reading The Innkeeper's Song by Peter S. Beagle. It's not as good as The Last Unicorn (<3) but still good storytelling.

I hope Amazon is not being tricksy. According to them the latest George RR Martin, A Dance with Dragons is out in a month! I am going to read the series again for the fifth time just to refresh my memory before it comes out. Those are the only books that make me cry like a baby.

Hodor Hodor Hodor!

I do love that series! I've only gotten to 'A Clash of Kings', but I'm attempting to wrangle 'A Storm of Swords' from my friend. Who told me that a number of people die in it. freaked.gif

Is that the one with the Red Wedding in it? If you haven't gotten to that part I won't spoil it. On a sidenote, how wickedly amazing would a MUD based on that series be?

Those of you that have not read this series yet really should. I highly recommend it! geek.gif

I really liked Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. Only sci-fi books I could ever really read without getting bored.

As for fantasy.. the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop is still my favourite.

Yess. Ender's Game is one of my favourite books.

Currently re-reading Pratchett novels while in transition from series to series. I last read the Dragon Jousters line from Mercedes Lackey, which I enjoyed, as with all her other writing.

One series I would really recommend would be Janny Wurts' Wars of Light and Shadow. Intricate plots, amazing descriptiveness and vocabulary, and simply awesome epic fantasy overall.

I'm guessing the American version, because that would be weird otherwise.

I believe that there's more than one American version, but yes. This one just sits near the Canadian border.

The name itself is kind of a spoiler...

Fool's Errand, Golden Fool and Fool's Fate by Robin Hobb
Jigan2008-08-05 06:25:17
Recently finished The Name of the Wind (I recommend this book. Beyond recommend this book.) and Good Omens.

I have a great deal of Terry Prachetts books, I enjoy them all. And the author of Name of the Wind? I'm going to read every single thing I can get ahold of his, even if it's on a napkin and is a short story about a man from Natuckett. I swear, he could make even that little diddy into something awesome.

Terry Prachett, however, will always be my favourite author. V for Vetinari.

Reading through Storm of Swords, then going on to a Feast for Crows. If the fifth isn't out once I finish with that, I'll read through Dune and it's various iterations... I used to read the Shannara series, but then Martin's books spoiled me, though. Bah.

Oh, and all of this shall be interspersed with Pratchett. Assuming I can find more of his, anyways.
Kharaen2008-08-08 01:49:09
Rereading all of Robin Hobb's books (Farseer, Liveship Traders, Tawny Man, Soldier's Boy). It's a slow process, but I do love her works.

Dune, the book, is absolutely incredible, but I wouldn't recommend reading the series past that as from that point on they descend from average (Dune Messiah, Children of Dune) to garbage (everything after Children of Dune).

Just finished Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman, and started on American Gods this morning.

I'm a huge fan of Gaiman's comic work, but I hadn't read his novels up until now. I really enjoyed it. If you're at all a fan of urban fantasy, I'd definitely recommend it.

Now starting The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan.
Saaga2008-08-12 14:30:48
Re-reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. wub.gif

American Gods is pretty good, I bought a collection of Geimans short works to read the ending of it. It's kind of sad and kind of cool. Neverwhere was also good.

Right now, I am reading all ebooks of G.U.R.P.S. I can get my hands on. <.< I love just reading background and stories and all to RPGs, they are usually well thought out. And it's kind of fun too. So many different supplementary works, it's awesome.

Blindsight by Peter Watts is amazing... and disturbing as well.

In other news, just finished Twilight Saga.

And Greywalker by Kat Richardson - it's poor.

My school sent me "The Front". I don't know if I'm going to read it though. Any opinions?
Bhiele2008-08-21 22:12:21
I just finished The Thirteenth Tale and am now onto Ken Follett's The Pillars of Earth.
