Currently, we have stuff like:
QUOTE

Emote bows deeply to ^Fain and gives ^Fain_him the steel sword, her eyes cast low.
This is incredabley useful and neat. But it does cause some problems. For example

QUOTE

Me: shinkick orti

Orti: Emote breaks down crying as ^iytha kickes him.

Me: Emote points at ^orti as ^orti_he cries, laughing malevolently.

I see: You points at Orti as he cries, laughing malevolently.
Orti sees: Iytha points at you as you cries, laughing malevolently.
Everyone else sees: Iytha points at Orti as he cries, laughing malevolently.

I would suggest that I be able to do the following:

QUOTE

Me: Emote at ^orti as ^orti_he , laughing malevolently.

That would produce:

I see: You point at Orti as he cries, laughing malevolently.
Orti sees: Iytha points at you as you cry, laughing malevolently.
Everyone else sees: Iytha points at Orti as he cries, laughing malevolently.

That's a lot to type... I'd typo that so badly.

I don't think we're supposed to be able to emote the other person's reaction.

For example, if you did "Emote points at ^orti as ^orti_he cries, laughing malevolently", that would be okay, albeit a bit unfair (since Orti may or may not wish to cry). However, if you tried, say...

Emote thwaps ^Fain and points at ^Fain as ^Fain_he cries, laughing malevolently.

That would make no sense, even if you got thwapped by Fain for it afterwards. Fain wouldn't be crying in the first place.

Not to mention it might be a bit of a headache to code. Unless you made it specifically POV.

In that specific example, Orti was already crying beforehand.
Here is another example:

QUOTE
Emote at ^bob as ^bob_he the room.

Say Where have you been! Is that alcohol I smell on your breath? Up to your room, young man!

QUOTE

That is the general idea.

Yes, but while you might be scrupulous about it, other people might not. So you can have someone in effect force you to cry/whine/whimper through their emoting, which isn't a good idea.

This reminds me of a question I had. Is there a way to do possessives in emotes?

Look at HELP EMOTING.

All you have to do is put a 's after the emote or em. smile.gif

Like if you did...

EMOTE 's feet move to the beat.

It would show...

Amyranth's feet move to the beat.
