I used to like all of Bright Eyes' music, but once they put out Cassadaga, I fell in love with that album and can barely listen to their other songs (besides Lover I Don't Have to Love, First Day of my Life, and Bowl of Oranges, as those three got me turned on to Bright Eyes in the first place).

From the Cassadaga album:

lul i still like all of his stuff, have heard 'Conor Oberst' his 'solo' project as if Bright Eyes wasnt solo enough. pretty good. Letting off the Happiness has all my favorite songs on it.

A lot of the stuff I listen to has already been mentioned so I'm going on a different route. Check out http://muxtape.com/ It is a website where people can make a mixtape, post it up, and they appear randomly on the home page. It is a great way to find random music you may never of listened too.

Oh, I also suggest Rasputina- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfSpkKx3PzU

May I also recommend Rick Astley?

SR-71 is more new age punk-rock, but it's really good. That might just be me (I have real trouble making out most lyrics, so I listen to the music more) but I like it.

Nightwish: Can't recommend it enough. The new stuff isn't nearly as epic and is more poppy, but it's quite good. Rock-orchestra.

Celldweller: This guy has been playing for over 30 years in various different projects, changing whenever he wants a new style. It's not techno or dance or rock, but more of a blend.

The black mages: Instrumental songs, primarily from final fantasy. Rock-orchestra.

Demon hunter: Christian metal, but decent Christian metal.

Enomine (Or E Nomine): Well, it's supposed to be German christian techno from muslims imitating non-christians, but it doesn't come out that way. Maybe more if you understand german.

Emilie Autumn: Victorian Industrial music.

SOilwork: Metal. But not scream metal, almost all clean lyrics, and they actually play well.

The veronicas: Do I really need to say more? (I'm surprised it took them this long to get nude shots put on the net.)

Woah, thanks again guys. I need to get off this craptastic computer at work and get home so I can actually get all of this.

Ok, I'm slowly (but surely) working through your suggestions. I got through Sham's post and I'm liking what I've got so far biggrin.gif

Of course you do, Sham's post is like 90% classics, heh.

Hmm, I browsed around, and I did like some of Empyrium's older stuff (Wintersunset-related). Nomnom doom.

Wintersun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnhdJVh9iIY
I didn't realize I'd left out my favourite group, heh. Also check Winter Madness. Death and the Healing if you dislike the ballshredding above.
Saaga2008-08-09 23:16:56
Wasn't Wintersun... owait, I think I've seen them. Hideous pronounciation but the music saves it.

And sadness and hate - the ambiance is so great, until...
"But why did you had to fly so far, I raged and it tore me apart.."

I can taunt them because they're Finnish and the Finnish are known to have awful pronounciation.

All in all, they're alright. smile.gif

Well, their slower songs tend to be -tad- too long, and I agree that several of their lyrics are hilarious because of their subpar english... but I mainly like them because they've got all the right riffs with none of the pointless wankery.
