Wha?

Apparently we don't need to wait a few years.

I loath the day where ANY youth culture will be dictated by the whims of Disney Channel

Hearing them even mentioned here made a little piece of me - well, several little pieces - die inside.

For those who don't know the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montant, find an 8 year old girl, and ask her. Preferably American.
She'll tell you everything. And she'll never stop. Just like my next door neighbor's daughter.

Yeah, sort of like trying to stop a river with a drinking cup, keeping up with them talking.
Lekius2008-08-08 05:11:23
Or instead of asking an 8 year old, you could remember who Brittany Spears and N'sync/Backstreet Boys were

I remember when liking Britney Spears meant you were cool, and everyone put glitter on their faces and sung "Lucky" at lunch.
I also remember Spice Girls stickers... somehow, saying you like Britney is more tacky than saying you like the Spice Girls, these days.

Please tell me you make that comment having never seen that whole naked-and-pregnant-Britney-statue thing.

What if I have seen the picture/statue thing? Wasn't it on the cover of some magazine?

As to the whole "walk without rhythm" thing: I'm levitating!

I was kinda thinking of how you said 'somehow'
You know, like it's...strange. I think that statue makes it clear, it isn't strange. Liking Britney is pretty much what the word tacky was invented for.

FYI, Hannah Montana is actually the name of the Character and Disney Channel show--a sitcom about a high-school girl who moonlights as a teen-pop sensation. Miley Cyrus is the singer who plays her, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus. Sometimes it gets confused because she releases albums as Hannah (a role she plays) and as herself.
Miley's album is Number 2 on Billboard 100. Jonas Brothers new album will probably debut at #1 in a few
Think of The Jonas Brothers as this generation's Hanson 2.0. They actually made the cover of Rolling Stone.
Well, it either shows some of you are getting older and disconnected from pop culture too!
Okay, I kid a little and I forgot that these groups might not be popular in Europe. I was deliberately choosing acts who might be the hot thing now and somewhat forgotten 10 years from now. I could have easily chosen Rihanna and Coldplay (although I have a feeling Coldplay will be around longer). I was just surprised at how long it's been since the Fatboy Slim releases.
(The whole point of the "Weapon of Choice" reference was that it's Lyrics (sung by Bootsy Colins) referenced Dune, which I assume is what this new Lusternia area references
Hell, as for myself, I remember when Michael Jackson was considered the biggest pop-star with Thriller and Bad and not the butt of jokes. Spears and Jackson are probably disdained for their behavior and not their music.

My girlfriend would've loved to teach my a few things about the Jonas brothers. She loves the whole Disney Channel fad and all that stuff. She loves High School Musical.
Thank the Gods she's also into anime and other geeky stuff too.
and she's good in the sack
