So, as of now, we have artifacts for all of the guild leaders... I was thinking, how about implementing optional guild artifacts, which have to be purchased by the guild, for the leaders... they wouldn't be anything like the current ones, just something that transfers to the new leader, and they can wear it... like robes for the guildmaster... they of course are just for show, and wouldn't offer any benefit, as there are already items for this... They would cost the guild either gold, credits, or commodities, and when purchased, would transfer every time there is a change in leadership... just offers a bit of customization to the leaders of the guild.

I think the guild, in general, would prefer spending their money / credits on something for the entire guild to enjoy as a whole (such as enhancements to the Guild Hall), or credit sales, or... any of a number of other options that are available. Instead of something for just one person at a time to show off.
That said, you can easily spend 50cr to customize an item you've already got to be all GMy!
Morshoth2008-08-10 21:48:08
Heh, the main idea behind this was that they would automatically transfer... And yes, i agree, the guild would prefer something else... just an idea, is all

I wouldn't be completely against being able to donate specific items to the guild (which would be transferrable by the GA using the ledger), but I'm really not liking the idea of specific artifacts, bought and paid for by the guild as a whole, to be tied to a certain position (and thus, one individual at a time).
With the donation-bit, however, you could (for example), customize an item to be all GMy, donate it to the guild, and then the GA can reassign it whenever the position changes. Or you could buy an aethership whistle, for the guild. Due to the way artifacts work, it would be bound to one person (preferably someone active). If it's needed urgently and the GA is on, however, the GA could reassign it to the new guild member. Then they would have to wait for its "reset" tick to pass (so it can't be used to instantly move items around) so they have possession of it. Seems like it gives the ability to do most of what you want, while also allowing for more guild-options. Which something like this really should do!
Morshoth2008-08-10 21:56:22
Aye, I agree...
Morshoth2008-08-10 22:03:04
Hmm, well new idea, as a spin off... in the case of donations, how about having the ability to really donate something, and have it reset to a certain position, say guildmaster, or champion, etc. instead of just a person
Evette2008-08-10 22:10:50
Well this kinda goes along with what Synl and I were thinking we could do for the Guild shop, which is buying a keg rune and attaching it to the health keg. It would be bought from the guild's credits but always remian in that cold store room.
Unknown2008-08-10 22:15:35
Yes, as mentioned, we were considering using the guild's credits to buy a keg rune for the shop (the rune on a health keg really rakes in profits), but we realized it would not work because of the way artifacts currently work. Artifacts being deeded to ledgers would be -awesome-.
Morshoth2008-08-10 22:37:44
Well, what if there was a way to buy artifacts as a guild... could only be done by the guildmaster... for these kinds of situations... and they could be called back by that guildmaster... say, you bought a keg rune... instead of resetting, the guild master could GUILD CALLARTIFACT if it ever needed to be found... and, have people able to also donate artifacts to the guild, which could also be called by the guildmaster. There would also be a command GUILD ARTIFACTS which lists the guild artifacts.

Basically, my idea, just moved to the GM?
I think it's really a better idea to tie it to the already-existing structure (the ledger).
Bhiele2008-08-10 22:52:25
I think it would be cool if there was some kind of guild artifact-thing that could be used as a reward for any guild member. For instance, instead of a guild favour as a reward you would have the use of the guild artifact for so many online hours before it would be recalled to the GM or Guildhall.
Morshoth2008-08-10 22:52:51
Ah, I didn't know what you meant by the ledger, but the artifact the guild admin has, ok, was just lost for a second there... I do like that idea then.
Leiliadhe2008-08-10 23:52:24
They should fix the current artifacts first. From time to time, I've had cause to use my admin ledger's summon function, but... it isn't anything special. It's just Summon in Planar minus the power cost. I think it can even fail if the person has red chakra/rooting/etc. And I can't even summon an AFK novice of mine out of Serenwilde; I just get the message "Your summoning has been stopped by the magical defenses of Serenwilde" or whatever.

Guild Mallet of Forging ftw.

That is what I've always hoped for. As for the forges... I have no idea why we needed a second.

Guild Mallet of Forging that resets to the same place at the guild forge.

Guild master seals.
New Guild pets. They can't do anything, but obey the leader they are assigned to. The guild can buy the pet themselves. Like Geomancer GA gets a giant Taint Grub, and the GC gets a stoneghast that follows him around or sommat.

There's (almost) always been two... hasn't there? Commune and Guild one? Or is there two guild ones now...
Oh, and maybe reinstating fullplate (to it's previous grandeur) just for GA and GM's?
Rika2008-08-11 07:25:15
The SG now have two inside the guildhall.
Anisu2008-08-11 10:18:44
hrm it should probably be restricted to things like the keg and cube artifacts and the likes, I would hate to see things like a guild cubix, mallet, whistle, rune of absorption, etc. They are artifacts only to be used by one person and in larger guilds who are you going to give it to?
As for customized items (like robes or crownes, quills, etc) that serve no purpose as armor, not enchanteable, no aids in traveling, hunting or fighting. You can already buy those. New Celest has a quill and Celestian crown as rewards for sparring champion and debating champion. The items can be set to an owner by the city leader.
To find out about those items your GM probably has to contant the guild patron.
