You spend your afternoons dialing for dollars for the local politicians, or doing marketing outreach, or posting campaign signs or running errands for campaign managers...or recruiting people to vote and getting them registered... Writing speeches to debate your opponents, playing guy Friday in general. There is plenty to do as a collegiate republican!
