To me, the huge rewards for the 'other' side is the fact that none of the Magnagoran or Glom characters were forced into giving up hours of experience. Sure, Celest definitely got the better deal than Seren this time. So, tell me, what rewards did Seren get, at all? I'd like to remind you that White Hart actually cried for help when the tempests were attacking him. From a Seren POV, we had no choice but to throw ourselves at the tempests. I think of the group of about 15-20, only about 5 managed to survive.
Serenwilde got to be involved in an event, which is (apparently) the Thing You're Supposed To Do! You got to kill off baddies, and Save The Day during the times Celest couldn't be bothered to actually work for the event themselves (yay, crystal gathering).
A number of Serens really wanted to be involved from the very beginning, going to Celest and helping out there... hence my speculation that whatever was controlling the storm decided to move it along to the other people who were interfering with it. This may or may not be accurate, but if you're attacking a place and another shows up to defend, might you not see them as your enemy as well? There was definitely something controlling the storm and its movements (that whole "trepidation" thing), so...
Serenwilde lost a few hours of experience, I lost 10 hours of my life sitting at the Tree of Trees with nothing happening at all (excepting the thirty minutes or so the Admin took pity on us and brought Fizban over to keep us entertained) along with others, so I guess we're even! (Note that it was mostly just Gloms there for most of that time, with 1 Seren every so often).

It is ZENOS.
But what is this about Celest not participating. I participated as much as I could, as it seemed everyone else did when I was around. I only saw Serens towards the very end. We did do something...

Oh, it's Zenos. He must be super-weakened or something, cuz he's looking like compared to the Histories.
Kiradawea2008-08-16 21:05:14
To be honest, I think it's supposed to be a part of him. An avatar or somesuch. I'm not certain, but it certainly seems like it is some weak image of him.

So THAT was it then?

Do the new champion artis have the same effects as the old ones? Was the point to make them non-weapons?

So you can rune your real weapon/give it a custom desc, while still getting the affects of the Champion arties.

Poor Celest, the gods just hate it
Unknown2008-08-17 03:13:17
Anticlamatic ending...
And what's this about Celest not doing thier part? Everytime I've been me and some others were right out there gathering corpses, delivering crystals, etc.
Oh, and the Celestine guildhall rebuilding thing was being planned by the guild for awhile now. It just so happens the admins decided to knock it down for us during the event.

Hey, it might not be over yet.
(Glom's "it's your fault for getting involved in events" stance is lulz though.)

It's probably not. This'll be the second time it's been "defeated."
Although this probably the first one with some results.

Just so it is said, except that it kills way too many people, this event is awesome me thinks.
Unknown2008-08-17 04:53:41
Maybe it's just bits of Zenos? Sliced off Kethuru chunks were able to attack people on their own.
Sarrasri2008-08-17 05:06:26
It was mostly yesterday that Celest wasn't helping. Elodres started then stopped, Naomi started then stopped. Being as I had scent so I could see everyone who was on the sea at the same time as me, I only found Galaphyrae and me more often than not and when going to Celest to get more crystals, anyone who had one was near eager to pawn them off.

I thought the -opposite- of that lead to the death of Crow during the kephera / illithoid event?

Nope! Just "not getting involved in the way they wanted us to."
But I still find this stance amusing!

I heard alot of people on Ct saying they were told to leave and had their offers of help refused from Seren *shrug*

Seren being an individual term, not a collective, there...happens every time. Gotta offer to different ones.
