I want to run a 500k (or 750k, undecided yet) lottery.

Does a player need to script a random number generator for this, or can it be done in the game? (I know Aetolia lets players use their lottery system to run org/player lotteries.)

there are artifact dice you could use I suppose

and I thought Aetolia had bookies, Lusternia does not have those but it may be one of those things a city/commune can ask a patron.

I know Achaea has a special lottery runner's license, which is separate from the bookie thing. I held a couple lotteries myself.

Well, I'm holding a raffle with my simple little script. It does the job, if not in any fancy way. Good luck to those who enter.

Gwynevere used some site for her's. Was a lil wierd.

I can smell the deception of a fixed lottery right now, just like that monopoly game they used to do at Mcdonalds! huh.gif
Kharaen2008-08-29 12:12:45
The script's in the Mechanic's Forum if you want to give it a try. It's just an alias to pick a random number between the total amount of tickets bought. You people are weird.
Esano2008-08-29 12:26:53
Why would you even use that?

Glory be to Random.org!

Did a lottery once based around Transmogrification in Imperian. That worked pretty well, almost as hard to win as Powerball!

(There was a winner, though sad.gif )
Kharaen2008-08-29 12:42:07
It's a raffle, sorry. >> There is a guaranteed winner.
Moiraine2008-08-29 12:46:30
That's easy, we would have just kept killing the..err...ticket...until he landed on a winner. suspicious.gif
Malarious2008-09-11 05:53:38
random.org, thats how I have handled random things.

Most 'normal' random systems are seeds based on time so it DOES have some weight though most no one would figure it out. Use random.org for reliably random numbers.

Put each number on a letter and put them all into the box of transplanar instability (or something). Then shake one out. An all ig way... though I'm not sure if the box has a max item limit.

We could totally use a lottery system. biggrin.gif

Problem is selling tickets. Not even 250 are sold, and I've given up trying to sell more.

Bleh... I'm not logged in right now (getting ready for work and stopping by the computer when I pass it, so I don't really have time to either. laugh.gif ) I don't know what the IG date is at the moment.... so.... how much longer does your lottery run? IRL time?
Kharaen2008-09-11 17:31:49
Roughly ten days.

Ya know... I think orgs and org conflict make lotteries not particularly easy.
