I did think Arin's holy cow cake was pretty funny wacko.gif

Didn't know there were so many artisans. I'm only in it to be able to do custom things for me/friends/guild.

Overall consensus seems to be that nobody likes Poisons.

Why is this?

I already stated on this thread that Poisons is rarely taken because it requires a lot of patience and active work. For mantakaya, one of the most popular poisons (paralysis), there are only -five- mobs that spawn once per hour. And they're in the Inner Sea, on any of its levels. Without artifact gloves, that means it takes at least 20 hours to fill a keg of mantakaya - and it's not just 'sitting in a manse afk', it's actively moving around the Inner Sea hoping to bump into a manta.

Acrune went enchantment -> jewelry -> enchantment -> tailoring -> forging

Alts have mainly been herbs or nothing, because its so easy to get started on herbs, your wares are just as good if your transed or not, or if you have gloves are not.

I've been wondering what tradeskill to take this is kind of helpful. Currently I've been going to trans tailoring. my Alt, uses Herbalism as well because lets face it I can pick yarrow and sell that same as anyone.

My true motive revealed! Alas and alack!

We've settled on tailoring, and an alt with jewelry. We'd like to do cookery too, but it can wait.

Alchemy on my main, because I'm lazy.

Most of my alts have tradeskills, but they're relatively low in them so its not worth mentioning.

All tradeskills either can make lots of money (herbs, alchemy, enchanting) or give you a chance to express your creativity (bookbinding, artisan, cooking, jewelry, forging, tailoring). Except poisons: it is neither creative nor profitable. Plus to practice it you have to be able to travel widely (requiring considerable levels of skills in Planar as well as survival -- admittedly, herbs has that same issue) and kill the things you find there (with herbs, being able to flee is good enough). Finally, many poisons are only available in areas that are enemy territory to many people (while some herbs are in unfriendly territory, none are found exclusively inside the actual borders of a city or commune).

Poisons isn't the least profitable trade (bookbinding wins that, with artisan a close second). And while it requires more development of other skills to practice it than any other trade (enchantment being a close second), most of those are probably skills you'd want to learn anyway. But if you want money there are better choices, and if you want fun there are better choices. Poisons really has nothing to recommend it that something else doesn't do better.
