Suggesting new skills based around the poison economy.
First, a tailoring skill to "poison proof" a cloak or great robe to gain a 10% resistance. I could see the mechanics working in one of two ways.
First, you bring the tailor a specific poison, and the proof gives a resist against that very same poison. IE a cloak is proofed against niricol so you now have a 10% chance to resist the onset of niricol.
OR use a vial such as anerod / antidote to give a general 10% resistance against poisons. Again, this is one idea or the other...
Another idea is for poisonists to have the ability to "saturate" a weapon in a poison. Saturate is a step up from the combat skill to envenom; it requires two or three "sips" of poison per application and balance time, but will slightly increase the chance to poison a target on a weapon strike (maybe by 5% to 10%).
I see "poison proof" and "saturate" as a check and balance against one another. Implementing both would increase the complexity of combat, and at the same time enhance the economy of poisons.
Thoughts?

You're trying to do the right thing (improve the economy of poisons) but in the wrong way. What you're describing doesn't actually increase complexity in a meaningful way, it's just one more entry-level requirement - and if only poisonists have that second ability, you just increased resistance to poisons by 10% across the board at a minimal cost.
The only easy way I can think of for poisons to have a better economy is to make a "sumac"-type venom that comes off in pve for a damage boost. Every other trade has casual or pve uses, or in the case of herbs is used far more often than poisons and by everyone (AND poisons isn't even used by other trades that I can think of.)

Eh. There is already a skillset entirely dedicated to increasing poison resistance and shrugging, and on top of that you can stack things like snake bond, charms, and benediction/maiden. The only thing that comes close to having as much resistances to it as poisons is magic, and there are a fair few more races with magic weaknesses than poison weaknesses.
If anything, I think we might be in need of a skill that can increase the proc rate instead.
Oh, and cooks can use poisons! But poisoned food is so incredibly useless for anything but RP that you'll rarely hear a sale made off of it.

Would this really work? Only warriors and monks can use poisons while bashing, and they're not the classes that need a bashing boost...
But I agree, poisons needs some cool ability to be used in non-special situations (ie not in pvp)

There should be a poison that when applied on top of another poison ensures that the poison -always- rubs off on the next tic and that it -cannot- be shrugged. The detriment would be that per 2 swings /whatever only 1 poison would be afflicted ever, but this one for sure. If that rate is still too high think up some other disadvantage - like that the one poison that ensures the affliction uses power to apply or whatnot.
Also, I think that before poisons can be granted a greater use in economy the 4 poisons that are -only- available on prime glomdoring need to me made available in an area easier accessed or a neutral area in general. This is a leftover from when Glomdoring was a bashing area and not a player org, but it should really get addressed. Raiding a plane except prime for poisons is easy enough (like Magnagorans could easily get dream leeches, or Celestians stoneghasts for poisons) but a PRIME COMMUNE is another matter entirely. For one it's likely there's constantly someone in the area, for another communes have that lovely skill called scent.
Summary: Move those poisons from prime Glomdoring to anywhere neutral. It's ridiculous right now.

Well... of those four, three are very specific and central to the Glom "prophecy" quest, so I don't think moving them out of the forest would work out well. Ideally, they should have been included in Wydyr Glade when it was released. But they can always release another mob that carries the same venom later if they feel like it, such as how both black scorpions and mughali spiders can have hadrudin extracted from them.

Yes that's fine, and actually what I meant with "move". Just make them available outside as well.
The same way spider mobs were put into the Observatory. Before, only prime Glomdoring had spiders and if you wanted to do the Tosha quest you -had- to "raid" Glomdoring. That was utterly retarded too.

We also need to make mantakaya extractable from Adoraths (forget whose idea that was, but it's a decent one).
Unknown2008-08-31 17:50:50
I idea-ed adoraths.

Hey, that was my idea, Ragniliff Idea-stealer!

Not necessarily, but you get the idea.

I don't see a need to address poisons in this manner at this time.

Poisons help warriors in bashing....? Didn't work that way the last time I checked my AB files.
