I'd like to wait for her response before voting for her again.

I suspect that Daganev is the mafia roleblocker, unless both of us are townie roleblockers, which.. while something I've not seen before.. could be possible. We have the mastermind, who was Xavius, and the communications expert, Shaddus, so I think it's probable that Daganev provided the logistics and said supplies to actually sabotage the plane. He even had a motive; didn't he say that he was shunned until the plane crashed? Just speculation based on flavour, though.

First things first - do you have once-per-night roleblock, Daganev? The reason I'm asking is this - mine is only two-shot, so it might be that I'm the backup if we're both town.

Incidentally, I don't think our line of reasoning is all that far off, either.. You just happened to roleblock the half of the mason pair that wasn't offed, and it was probably also because their 'hinting' seemed to suggest scum. The more I think about it, the more I am in favour of the main and backup roleblocker scenario myself, since I didn't think that I was the only town roleblocker with two shots. At this point, we should probably put more pressure on the suspiciously quiet ones - I have one more block, and if we managed to score with one less kill tomorrow night (or not), it would help establish who is town and who is not.

In the event that I am still lynched while I'm asleep - Archer2 and Silvanus are way too under the radar for my comfort. Didn't Silvanus say that because he was 'naturally suspicious,' he was going to keep quiet? Sounds like strategic scum-logic to me.

I am definitly not a mafia role blocker. I can block every night, by withholding supplies.

How exactly do you block people? (Why would there be a backup blocker??)
Unknown2008-09-04 17:59:33
It seems fairly simple. If Silferras is the roleblocker then Daganev would by lying. It seems odd for him to lie, we lynch Silferras and Dag was lying then Dag gets one extra night, he would be lynched next day. It seems odd for him to do that, I do not see how the Mafia could win in one night. I also find Dag's role-claim to be a bit more believable then Silferras.

Well, it seems interesting to me that Silferras is not calling me a liar, though she is also still voting for me....

Has anyone ever seen two roleblockers in a game of this size?
Unknown2008-09-04 18:11:27
I have not but I am wondering, if we do have two is it worth the risk of losing one if it proves that Dag is not lying and probably town?
Unknown2008-09-04 22:32:38
My voting for Daganev at the moment is the product of nighttime senility. Sorry about that!

Unvote

Also, though I initially had my reservations, I'm convinced that Daganev is indeed town as well. There's no way that I'm the only roleblocker since I only have two shots (possibly because scaring people at night wears off after a while? Like he pointed out, it's not likely that either scum nor town in this setting would be too vulnerable to this). Given that Shaddus turned up with investigation, and working on the possibility that the last scum isn't vanilla, this gives us better odds that town would have one full roleblocker and a backup to compensate, in the event that one or the other was offed. I don't think Ryleth counted on two scum being rooted out so fast, though!

For the time being, Vote: Silvanus for the self-confessed lurkiness. Thinking that you're naturally suspicious and then not talking is not a viable way of getting off the hook.

Is silferras one or two votes away?
Shiri2008-09-05 00:13:07
Two.
Arix2008-09-05 01:46:39
So what are we doing about Silferras?
Shiri2008-09-05 02:18:56
Killing her.
Unknown2008-09-05 03:48:45
I did expect to be offed soon, but I didn't think it would be so soon. That being said, I find it a little suspicious how Shiri's pushing so hard for my lynch when I've already revealed and explained my role. If we're really that hard-pressed to lynch someone, anyone, I'm up for it - I'm not so indispensable, being the backup, that I can't be lynched if we really are that desperate for a kill - but foregoing the chance to quickly narrow down the list of townies and scum with my last roleblock, Daganev's roleblock, and our unclaimed investigator seems such a waste for the town that only scum would want to get rid it as soon as possible.

Look at it this way. We have ten people left. Othero wasn't one of the killers last night, Saran is the governor (?) or at least not scum, which leaves us with eight unconfirmed targets. Shiri claimed vanilla pilot, Daganev claimed full roleblocker, and I'm the backup two-shot roleblocker. Assuming that our investigator scoped out someone who hasn't been killed or otherwise claimed, we have four people left who have not claimed and are unknown. Ostensibly, one of them is townie, or our investigator would have spoken up. However, even if said investigator hit someone who is dead now or has claimed, we can still potentially check out three of the five complete unknowns (Rika, Arix, Archer2, Silvanus, Xikue). Once again, only scum would have anything to fear from this, since there's a higher chance of blocking kills and/or rooting out scum.

After tonight, if you want to lynch then-vanilla me still to confirm my role, by all means. I'll be totally useless then. tongue.gif

I've never heard of a "backup" roleblocker. Furthermore, that isn't a "backup" role - that's just a similar, crappier version of the same role. Backups become fully active normals as soon as the first one dies, and they also know about it.

Also you didn't mention the 2* limit the first time you roleclaimed. If you weren't making it up, you should and would have - it was otherwise a complete roleclaim so I don't believe you just happened to hide that information to make it easier on the scum.

I don't think it's wise to give Silferras another night to live. The only other obvious target than the lurkers is Daganev anyway. Also, if we take Silferras out, and she's the last scum, we only suffer one nightkill the night after - if we let her go to risk killing someone else, we take two.
Shiri2008-09-05 03:57:55
to make it harder on the scum*, I meant to say in the 2nd paragraph there.
Daganev2008-09-05 04:30:16
I am torn and clearly not in a position to think objectively about this (for this day) I will listen to a consensus.

How interesting. Unvote, vote: Silferras

If Silferras ends up being innocent, we lynch daganev next.

How so? even Silferras believes both me and her to be innocent.

But I'm probably going to get killed at night anyways, so it won't matter much.
