I've been weighing up risks in my mind: having a extra resistancd against communism is good for us neutrals, however if it resulting in capitalist forcable take-over hrm. I'd like to hear from the security council, maybe they get some insight into the vote? Maybe?
REDSCARE: ABSTAIN (Can I do that for now?)

It's late, forgive the atrocious grammer, sentance construction and typos above.

You can only vote yes or no for today's issue.
Ryleth2008-09-12 00:09:02
Yes but I mean, to unvote? Abstain seemed the best choice of wor

The security council has NFI what this red scare crap is. If Aesyra isn't revealing what we can do I think I'll lay off for now, presumably she has a reason and I'm semi-confident she's town (although in this game townies may shift allegiance from night to night, ugh.)
Other thoughts: 1 conversion, no deaths, eh? This game may take a while.
Anyway, options for red scare:
1. USA gets a bonus over communism somehow. This is superficially irrelevant but if we can coordinate it somehow through the issues, it benefits us to side with one cult over the other until the other's wiped out, then wreck the first one, so we have less "deaths" per night. That does depend on what issues come up though.
2. Communism gets a penalty, USA doesn't get a bonus. This is obviously good.
3. Someone's idea that we freak out and lynch someone. This is uh...possible. And bad.
4. I don't know, could be anything, dislike that we don't know what we're doing here so it's hard to make calculated risks!
Redscare: Yes.

Shadow didn't want to reveal until you spoke... she didn't say she didn't want to reveal, she was basically asking your opinion on the matter.
I don't understand your first point. How does siding with a cult help us at all? We should be doing our best to diminish the abilities of both cults, not making one stronger in the hopes that we will still be alive later to take out the second one.

With his reasoning we aren't siding with one cult, just voting to weaken one while the other stays the same. Thats assuming that the redscare just hurts one cult and doesnt help the either. If it hurts one and helps the other then we would be better off voting no on it.

Yeah, the only reason she didn't tell us is because she was waiting for you

Zetsu, I was asking about this point. It doesn't make sense to me.

First paragraph:
Hm. Ok. In that case...I think I'm going to keep it secret anyway because I don't think it matters if the town sees it coming, but it DOES matter if the scum see it coming.
Second paragraph:
Well, see, if these are traditional cults, we don't actually stop either until we whack the cult leader. In the meantime, they're probably converting 1-2 per night. Naturally if they convert 2 per night, it's more painful than if we convert 1 per night. So depending on the mechanism of helping them, empowering one cult specifically to take out another is good for us since the sooner one dies the sooner we're down to only one convert per night. Right? It -does- depend on what form the benefit takes though. If it's, say, people are scared of the communists so the communists can't convert, great. If it's people are scared of the communists so the USA converts an additional person, suck. Now we actually have no idea which one it will turn out to be, but in my mind the likelihood of it hurting the Russians but not benefiting the Americans other than that is higher than the other option, so I'm voting for us to do it. Either option is a valid choice though since we can't be sure of the effects, although since we all seem to agree it's bad for the communists we can keep an eye on the people who vote no if we find a scum trail leading to the russians after a lynch or whatever.

Why does USA get a bonus? Maybe I missed it in someones post. Meh just gonna vote no Redscare: No
Furien2008-09-12 00:25:38
The 'Red Scare' itself was a period in history of extremely high anti-Communism in the United States. It might provide them with a bonus, somehow.

We don't know that it does, but apparently the red scare was a campaign specifically conducted by the Americans against the Russians, so it makes sense to consider the possibility it benefits the Americans while damaging the Russians. It could just as easily be only the latter or only the former, though, it's really hard to gauge.
