Oh, and there is one benefit of security council membership most people seemed to forgot other than the veto power. Legally, they are the only countries allowed to have and use nuclear weapons. Though, seeing as most people didn't know that, I doubt that is what we're voting for.

Depends how heavily Rika researched the setting.

Anyway, to speed up the random nomming and unnomming, anyone want to present a case for their actually being members?

Keep in mind this is set in 1945, and only a few countries have the resources to build them

Actually, the construction of a nuclear device is fairly simple, the resources are not hard to come by, the knowledge to build one is.

I'm boring, I want to be of some importance.
Arix2008-09-10 03:38:01
I have no specific reason, it just sounded interesting, and my role is boring
Furien2008-09-10 03:39:15
Casilu's right on the knowledge thing. Iirc, it was a big race to see who could figure out how to make it first. Also, I noticed you voted for Othero too..is he even in this game? >_>
Shiri2008-09-10 03:39:41
I don't mind if you don't have a good reason, I sure don't - I just want to see if anyone -does- have a good reason: if they do, and are willing to make a claim or something, it'll be easier to discuss. I can see this getting really obnoxious fast since we have to pick two instead of just one.
Shiri2008-09-10 03:40:20
Othero quit cause Rika wouldn't let Revan play unless he fixed his tantrums, she's probably just joking tongue.gif
Silvanus2008-09-10 03:41:11
Nominate: Silvanus

At first, I was thinking about not playing this game, because the way history was butchered, but oh well.

I think I should be on the Security Council because I have nuclear weapons, in fact I have two of them. It sounds scary, and it can have some side affects, or it can not.
Saran2008-09-10 03:42:18
VPN starts with 5 and ends with 4

So NOMINATE: CASILU and SARAN

most reoccuring number is 9 so VOTE: SILVANUS

Nominate: umm... Furien!

Doman2008-09-10 03:42:50
Umm, Silvanus, having nukes doesn't make you good for the council. For all we know, you're scum who wants an excuse to blow people up

So what, if we don't vote you in we confiscate your nukes because non-security-councillors aren't allowed them?

Before we decide, then, how can you use your nukes to benefit the neutral member nations?
Casilu2008-09-10 03:45:48
Well, before we keep going, I want everyone's opinion on something. Do you think the Ruskies would operate as a cult or as a normal mafia? Because, this is 1945, we're dealing with Stalin and the soviets loved setting up puppet governments.

Could be either, or some trippier setup. But the odds of NOT having a scum group are low, and what other group could be a scum group if the Russians were a cult? Are there any available?

He claims to have nukes, and I want to know which country he represents

My personal opinion is a mafia member would not say they have two Nuclear weapons in their arsenal (also known as two day kills).

Well, the best way to use a nuke is to blow it up over somebody's head.

Point and it shall be received.

Rika quoted earlier in the thread that this may or may not resemble real life or not.

I am the nation of Cuba (wasn't Communist by 1945 but the Cold War hadn't really started then). The reason why I have nuclear bombs is because I'm a small island in the middle of nowhere (really only 90 miles away from the US, so not really nowhere) and nobody would suspect a nation as small as me to have nukes.

So I don't think this resembles real life. If it does, Rika fails.

Soviets didn't have them until 1947. He could only be the U.S. (Little Boy, Fat Man) or Germany who was damn close.
Casilu2008-09-10 03:52:12
Ack. Ninja'd. But, I don't trust Cuba, mostly because they're ungrateful jerks.

A note for you all: Events and nations in this game may or may not resemble what happened IRL.

And great logic there, Casilu.
Arix2008-09-10 03:54:11
This game does not follow history exactly, so it's possible Cuba could be a Soviet puppet state at this time
