Is there anything I should know when creating a character, is there an easy way to learn to play Lusternia? I'm used to playing Achaea, and the one time I have tried to play Lusternia it seemed a LITTLE overwhelming. But I have gotten a bit bored with Achaea, and want to try something new. Imperian dosent seem to interest me really, and Aetolia... I just can't seem to get into really...

Take your time, go slowly, and pay attention to everything in your collegium.

Also , before you make a charachter, try reading the histories to give you some ideas of how to fit into the world.

This.

Also, make liberal use of Newbie and CGT. We're here to help! HELP BASICCOMMANDS is good to read over, and in general, the help files are -excellent-. Make several characters, just to get to know what each org, and archtype feels like.

HELP WHATNOW is awesome too tongue.gif

I feel like you need to just jump right in, myself. I love that Lusternia is the least like Achaea, so you'll feel like a newbie all over again, but I found that appealing more than I did frustrating. The one thing I wish I had done differently was ask for help more often and throw myself into the interactions with people right away.

Also, as a note, you can complete the collegium quests at any time. You have a certain amount of time spent as a student in the collegium before graduating, then a certain amount of time spent as a novice before graduating. Both things can be sped along, but if you graduate from either before you've learned everything you feel like you need to know, feel free to take the time to do those collegium quests and go through the guild advancement tasks.

Yes.

And for censor.gif sake, don't start an argument that is something along the lines of 'what happens when everyone is in the Light? they will get bored and the Taint will live on!' because it won't work sleep.gif. Read the histories.
Rika2008-09-11 03:26:02
What happens when everyone is in the Light? Won't people just get bored and try to do another project Cosmic Hope and release another version of the Taint?

Hey smile.gif

I'm from there also, and it's very overwhelming coming from Achaea and knowing everything, to coming here and being a completed nooblet.

My best advice to you is find a good mentor, have the initial concept of your character in your head, read read read read!!! and just immerse yourself completely in the game. Its a lot of fun and while I'm currently tied up doing admin stuff for Achaea rolleyes.gif I've still been doing reading and working on reqs for my Guild.

Just don't give up too soon. Eventually you'll be able to walk from once place to another without any maps or using that WALK To thing and be so proud of yourself content.gif

Can also PM me if you need help or so. IG I'm Ravai so if you message me I can help.

Ciao

PS: No laugh/facepalming at the name I picked. First one that popped into my head when it said 'Niahm' wasn't available sad.gif
Shurimaru2008-09-18 15:31:52
Niahm and I were actually really good friends in Achaea, so...anyway, that's irrelevant.
Go with what people said here, and, imho, the best advantage lusternia has over Achaea is MAP and PATH. So, so much better than WALK TO.

And, of course, people RP a lot better here, and they're nicer about it.

ohmy.gif

I'm still waiting for that ability. losewings.gif

I can still only go around the mountains in one direction cause if I try it the other way I wind up taking a wrong turn and getting completely lost. laugh.gif Thank goodness for the in game MAP command though, cause that, combined with the maps on the website have gotten me unlost again pretty quick in most cases. Mostly. laugh.gif

Teleport FTW!

Yeah, I do that sometimes too. Unless I'm tryin to get somewhere and then, I try to do my best to back-track to where I took the wrong turn first cause otherwise, I'd have to just go back. laugh.gif
silimaur2008-09-18 15:44:33
Hrmm well wait till the joy you feel when you can remember how to walk everywhere, then you take a small break come back and get lost in 5 seconds...frustrating..
Shurimaru2008-09-18 15:57:19
I'm with Noola, though. I've been playing for a little over a year and am still hopelessly dependent on maps, landmarks, and teleport. ._.
Unknown2008-09-21 17:29:17
Yeah i just came over from Achaea too don't think anyone remembers seros though.
Tael2008-10-02 21:57:56
Bah. I left Achaea long ago to get away from you people! Now you're all following me!

Just kidding. Pay attention to what people have to tell you, don't act cocky because you may been influential in Achaea. See what archetype works for you, and for the love of God please don't compare Achaean skills to Lusternian ones. The combat system works much differently here, so things OP there are actually pretty standard here.
Athrax2008-10-05 03:04:29
Agreed... I was a pretty powerful bard in Achaea... Here I'm barely passing for a so-so warrior. The combat system here is so much more involved, but the reason I came here was the RP... Achaea seems to have zero, Lusternia seems to be full of it, makes the game a lot more fun.

Likewise from another Rapture world (Imperian) however the elitism over there has started to wear on me, as well as the lack of anything to do over there anymore that isn't absurdly repetitive. Lusternia certainly seems to have the most interesting idea comparatively, but again it is a little overwhelming.

All of that to say what's an easy archetype and guild to use (not a great scripter/coder so combat is low on the priority list, but I'd like to be able to take on mobs and not die instantly in a fight) and RP as, and are there any good up-to-date maps lying around?

You could try Mages. They're pretty good at hunting, and if you're good, you can overpower your opponent and get by without a system with incredible hindering.

Thanks I'll look into it
