The Transplanar Cubix is often marvled at, and even more often hated. The Transplanar Prism doesn't get any love though! I look at it, and I see something that the Lusternia admins got right. It's much cheaper then the Cubix, it has good functionality, and it would open a lot of doors if people took more notice of it.
So, with that out of the way, I suggest a two more artifacts like the cubix/

Morphing Mask: Allows you to change race once per IRL week: 600 CR
QUOTE
Cameo of the Changeling: 1000 credits
- Marks you as being of the changeling race. Changelings have no true
form, but rather transform into another race up to once a Lusternian
month (once per rl day). This will not work for anyone but the owner.
- If the cameo is worn by the owner, that person is displaying his or
her changeling heritage for all to see. If it is not worn (as many
changelings prefer to stay hidden), it is almost impossible to
distinguish the changeling from his or her transformed race.
- Syntax: CHANGELING INTO.

@Denust: You fail, utterly.
@Kialkarkea: There is a lesser cameo artifact in the 100 credit dagger of resurrection. though these would be good, especially if they were upgradable into the other versions later

Why the frick won't this post quote Denust's post?
Anyway, Denust, it'd take me about 4 months to save up that extra 400 credits cause, generally, I can only afford to buy about a hundred credits a month. If I really wanted an artifact that let me change race, I'd totally go for a cheaper one that was a little limited but let me get the arti sooner cause it was less expensive.

I can't even quote my post.
And trust me, I would love to be able to change races. Bashing wouldn't be so slow if I could, and I wouldn't have to pick between decent ability and RP. BUT! I'm thinking more people would pick a dagger or a cameo over a cameo lite. I don't ever buy credits, so even a 100cr item is out of my reach and saving 1000cr would be impossible for me.
But at 600cr, a mask is not looking so much better than a cameo. I suppose I mean to point out that the small difference in time between race changes with 600cr and 1000cr artifacts probably wouldn't fly with the admins. Of course, I can't speak for them.
EDIT: Edited for clarity, somewhat.
EDIT 2: For the people who buy/get few credits, the dagger would be a more reasonable goal if you wanted to only change infrequently, maybe every few months or even yearly? And for the people who buy lots of credits, the cameo would be a superior choice. So it seems to me that these arties would only satisfy a niche of the already niche market of artie buyers. And I say it is a niche because not everyone has the luxury of being able to buy credits with RL money, and buying enough credits off the market or from sales can take a long time as well.

400cr is an incredible difference Denust. It opens up possibilities to many more people that are simply put off by the 1K price tag on that cameo.
1 week or 1 day? It's not all that small. Still, I'd even go with 2 weeks, or 3.

Because his post is made up entirely of quote tags. The forums don't auto-reply on quotes, because it would lead to ginormous quote-stacking, which happens in some other forums. You can still do it manually though.

No! There was totally text in there at the time! I swear!

The mask actually seems more expensive than what its worth.

This idea hit me in the shower (yay shower ideas?):
How about making a 200/300cr artifact that would let you morph into a random race every few months/every Lusternian year? It would be cheaper than a cameo, more persistent than a dagger, but you lose the ability to control what you change into. I dunno, I don't think you should copy and paste artifacts to make them cheaper without changing their functionality at least a little. The only problem would be if you change into a race your org doesn't like, but if you let it exclude two or three races it would let you not violate any city/commune laws or your RP while keeping you from overly manipulating the races you can become.
Even I'm having doubts about how practical this idea would be, but whatever. It's compromise, sort of maybe.

Morph into Illithoid/Viscanti for Celenwilde, or Kephera for Glom, or Elfen/Merian for Mag?

I don't ignore the prism...I love the prism. A nice little gnome gave it to me after I had been playing for only a month. I've never been afraid of exploring enemy territory since.
Yes, I am a coward.

Prism used to be awesome but then they nerfed it to hell. :sigh:
Shiri2008-09-11 05:39:33
When/how was that?
Gwylifar2008-09-11 14:32:59
Can the prism be upgraded to a cubix later, the way runes and other stuff can be upgraded? If not, maybe it should be.

It wouldn't be too bad, any real fighters would just go with a Cameo. The rest can manage, look at Denust. He's got 10 INT and he gets along fine.
