Believe it or not, Dell builds them for almost what you can build them for yourself these days, with quality parts including high end RAM.

Dell is pretty good, and Desi, man, do you not sleep or anything? I've had trouble getting to 20, yet there's already two 40's and you're already in the 30's. I must be doing something wrong.

Actually on that subject have you had any issues with their customer service? I've heard they outsourced and I'm not sure if I want to go with them again.

Dell customer service is not the awesomesauce it used to be. I'll attest to that one. I've only had cause to call them twice, and both times it was painfully obvious that they were reading from a script, once with a nearly incomprehensible accent.

Heh, 34 now, nearly there! Mostly has to do with whether or not you can stomach AE grinding pq's.
Shiri2008-09-22 08:13:17
Main problem with my dell was that when parts broke it was frickin' hard to get them replaced.
Desitrus2008-09-23 20:10:23
Hnnn, 36 and work is making the last few a slow trial indeed.

Oh man, awesome.
Oh, and I fixed my problems too! Only thing I still got left is that it slows down after playing a while, but support said they'd fix it.
And I have to play a Chosen now, because my mates started playing and they needed a tank. -.-

How'd you fix your problems? I'm having similar ones!

Not sure if this is the case, but I notice a few laptops have been having issues with it, my brother has had his screen screwing up, whereas my kickass desktop has not, I think Ash might be on a laptop as well.
Desi, is there any decent rvr at those levels, or are you just too high above it? I know that in t3 I've seen basically no scenario's pop, and no combat action in any of the lakes.

Really? Our T3 scenarios are constant, although it's usually just Anroc Puntfest. T4 I get some skirmishes when I go kick guards, that's about it. Going to farm up some gear in Vale after 40 and pvp my way back to 40 on an engineer a bit slower but more fun/pvp.
Ashteru2008-09-24 18:58:20
Yeah, running on a laptop. I worked about 11 hours on fixing all my problems, but now it works, heh. Real question is, are you running on ATI or Geforce?
Desitrus2008-09-24 19:16:49
Some recent things came to light about how the game handles events, apparently it scans way too fast, so buffs/debuffs in large fights and your combat log will actually cause your framerate to drop and game to "hitch". There's a mod on Curse called Buff Throttle that will let you drop the scan rate and you'll see big improvements. You can also close the combat log to stop it from scanning events as fast also.
CleanFrames UI mod also has an issue of spamming you with too many updates, so if you use it and normally have great frame rates but get odd instances of "chop" when you are fighting in big groups, you'll be better off without it.

Probably. The graphics card is decent, not quite top of the line, but it's good.
If it were possible I'd drop 2 gigs of ram and get a better graphics card though.
Also the power supply looks like a generic cheapy. It doesn't say what brand it is anywhere. Be wary.

Dont think its possible to mix and match parts. Just found something I thought looked good on newegg. Know of something better for around the same price?

No don't get me wrong, looks like a good deal. But if you were able to configure it, that's what I'd change. Minor quibbles.
Also depends on what your personal level is. Can you maintain/support the system yourself, or would a major vendor with warranty/support be a better idea?
Unknown2008-09-24 23:57:41
Can change the power supply and the video card myself. Some other minor things. I put this computer together but don't feel like doing it again if that answers your question.
edit: Like this one better than the first one?

You'll be satisfied with either, really. I've never heard of Ibuypower or Cyberpower before. My laptop is a dell and my desktop I built, but eh.
Upgrading your video card in the future isn't too difficult, so I suppose it doesn't matter much.

So, tonight is 40. I went to the Isle of the Dead to see the Vortex along with my trusty lion...

Man, I wish I could stomach that grinding, I barely made it to 22, and I'm already sick of it! Though did gunbad a few times last night, only the first wing though, got some nice loot, our band only had enough for 1 group to do the final boss, I was left out the first time, and the engineer gloves drop.
