I don't think we can dismiss the pokemon as being mafia yet, as the flavour text in the original post stated that the humans had trained some pokemon.

I think Myrkr's hunch was correct and they killed each other. (Surprisingly good guess from Myrkr. Huh.) Both were -effectively- town since they didn't want to be killed by scum AND didn't want their opponent to be lynched - I don't think it was a case of retarded-jester-win-ends-the-game.
