Waxing and waning through the day as everyone pursues their own agenda, whether foraging for food or resting in the shade, the key discussion draws to a leisurely close with the company gathered along the shoreline, the sun only a sliver of gold beyond the curve of the horizon.
"Doman's been acting a little strange," Bali ventures during a lull in the conversation, pinning him with his gaze. "I've been thinking, and something's just off about the way he's been behaving."
Casilu splashes discreetly in assent, nevertheless drenching nearly all of their number in a considerable spray of brine.
With a few resigned swipes at their dripping faces, several begin to nod thoughtfully, eyeing Doman with increasing doubt.
"You don't want to lynch me," Doman asserts quietly, meeting each gaze in turn. "You won't like the results."
"Tauros' droppings," Arix chimes in, fixing Doman with a beady stare. "That's what you would say."
As the decision is made and Doman is surrounded, Esano nobly steps forward and prepares to land the final blow. Turning back with a final, loving glance, he steels himself visibly and opens his beak, spewing a virulent Dragonbreath in Doman's direction. He is instantly immolated in the scorching stream.
Almost immediately, Doman explodes, the impact fatally wounding Esano. With a heartwrenching soprano cry of agony, Esano warbles a final, soft note and is still.
Darkness shrouds the scene as the last sliver of sun slips silently past the horizon. IT IS NOW NIGHT TWO.
