While I want to distance Lusternia from most IRE games, there is one IRE game that had a great idea that I wish we had implemented here in Lusternia.
As an example, if you want to buy an artifact in Lusternia, you're limited to what it is in name and so forth. For example, if you tried customising Winged Sandals of Haste. They have to be sandals. It would be kind of silly looking at a fully decked warrior.. wearing SANDALS. Ahem, but.. My point is, one of the IRE games has the ability to buy the effect and place it on an item of your choice. For example, if I had a pair of boots and I wanted to buy the celerity effect from the Sandals from them.. I can just do that and keep my nice pair of boots, and if I was a Warrior, I wouldn't be afraid to walk out of the door looking like an idiot. This would also help so people don't look like they're wearing 50 cloaks (I'm looking at you Kaervas) and so forth. Feedback, plz.
P.S. I'm aware we have Rune Artifacts that sort of do this already.

I like it. In fact, I didn't know you couldn't already do something like that when you customized.

Yep. It also helps so you don't have to wear a bunch of spectacles or boots too.

All we really need is for almost everything that isn't already a rune to become a rune.

Rune of the Reincarnation? That would be like a Cameo. Go for it!
Arin2008-09-24 07:20:37
So that when you attach it to yourself, you just burn up and die.
Gwylifar2008-09-24 12:30:03
No reason a cameo couldn't have been a rune you attached to any piece of jewelry you wanted, actually. Ones that wouldn't make sense as runes include the dagger of reincarnation though.
Aramel2008-09-24 13:16:42
Approve! It's bad enough I have to wear specs IRL, if I ever got one IG I wouldn't want to wear it.

Wish I could attach a Rune of the Changeling to my awesome cloak. I'd just pull a Dracula, hide in my robe, make POOF *cloud of smoke appears* and changeling into another race.
EDIT: It's also particularly nasty that I am forced to wear boots AND sandals. Both artifacts.

Boo hoo. I wish I had too many artifacts.

It looks ugly damn you!

We choose items for some auction artifacts to make them more unique, rather than runes. We could of course convert some items to runes if needed. However, under no circumstances would I be behind changing the cameo to a rune because of the established RP (cameos are mark of the changeling race, and wearing a cameo reveals yourself to be a changeling). That said, it's rather onerous to change existing artifacts to runes so it wouldn't be a high priority. What items were you thinking of that would make good runes (please don't say "all of them"!).

all the ones that are tied to clothing.
sandals, glasses, spectacles, robes, gloves, capes etc.
not including things like brooches, or pins, or necklaces etc.

More helpful if you name specific items.

If it breaks RP type things, or just seems really out of place.
Like the sandals of haste on an Urguard who weres fullplate, maybe not so much RP but seems awkward. Although would love to see a rune so that all pipes on you are treated at lit and such.

Is it possible for items of the same nature (Spectacles of Clairvoyance/Spectacles of Seeing, Gloves of Mastery/Harvesting/Poisons and Gloves of Concealment, etc.) to be combined together or will one have to just wear both (if even possible), or would someone have to switch in and out between which artifacts they want to work?
Daganev2008-09-24 23:20:15
I currently wear two spectacles at the same time. so, I don't think it actually counts as the clothing type that it is called.

from the misc file:
The following could probabbly be detached from the item of clothing for the purpose proposed in this thread

I think the rings are fine the way they are, if only because you can wear a bajillion of them.
Gwylifar2008-09-25 14:45:20
Since I can't say "all of them", I'll go back to saying "all except the few that really need to be individual items". But it's more like a missed opportunity: going back and changing existing artifacts doesn't seem viable. I'd just try to make sure to make new artifacts into runes as much as possible, to take advantage of Lusternia's superior crafting system.
