Why not make it post to the guild log if you mentor someone?

READLOG NINJAKARI

2008/09/24 02:24:27 - Briannon has taken Shaddus as a mentor.

Just a thought.

I don't like the idea of things being oocly coded and revealed. This doesn't seem really needed and thus would only work to remove some of the mystery left in the game.
Shiri2008-09-26 01:44:25
The "mystery" of knowing who mentors who.

That said, what's the point, Shaddus?
Daganev2008-09-26 01:54:49
So guilds can more easily reward and help encourage mentorship, and find people who are abusing it and self police??
Acrune2008-09-26 02:03:28
I don't see the point, but at the same time, I can't think of any reasons not to.

What Daganev said.

Also, because sometimes, I think, "Wow, this guy is a freaking idiot, who is his mentor.. oh wait, he's not awake, I can't check. "
Seriously.
Dugan2008-09-26 04:20:51
I kinda like the idea of it being noted in an organizations log myself.
Shurimaru2008-09-26 13:41:07
Yeah. I like this idea. I think that, as Shaddus/Daganev said, it would make Guilds more aware of what's going on with their mentor-novice relationships.

It does nothing to remove the "mystery" left in the game.

I'm not sure if I'd like this or not, I mean we've survived quite awhile without but I guess it would make it easy to discern who mentors are for things like novice tests that require it or guild tasks that require you to take on and train newbies (I'm not sure if this is done still, or if it was even here I saw it. huh.gif )

I thought there was something about guilds not being able to interfere in the mentor-protege thing - not being able to force a protege to take a mentor, not being able to limit which mentors can be taken, etc. dunno.gif

It's not forced, as it's usually a "You can do this or:" bit.
Gwylifar2008-09-26 14:03:54
I know there was a big ruckus about that in other IRE games, but don't remember if Lusternia's admins have ever come out and made explicit that no one can limit other people's choices of mentors. If they haven't, they probably should.

I'm not saying it should be forced, per se, but maybe just for records and such.

People who need to know can GUILD SCORE their target.

If this guy picked up the mentor over 6 IG months ago, you wouldn't know either.

Two solutions:

- Having a good memory. (and the guild score thing)

- Making a script to log logs.
