Resists are very nice for bashing. If you're having problems staying alive, a female keph would definitely help. Compared to Aslaran, Orclach for me has been night and day. I prefer it to Elfen for most things, just because of the general toughness and regeneration.
Now, for a bard of course, Orclach isn't exactly an option, but if you don't mind the slowness of it... think about maybe Tae'dae:
Good charisma, great constitution, and a boat load of "look how tough I am" resists. You aren't going to kill anyone in PvP or anything, but you're going to bash with a good deal of impunity. I know a few knights who really liked Tae because, while they are a bit slower, they have a great deal of security in bashin.
Now, someone may post here and explain why, even for bashing, the equilibrium penality is much worse for bards than the balance penality is for knights or something, but I assume that, stats being otherwise solid, the effect would be largely the same. Slightly slower bashing, but much, much safer.

Yes they are 'random' as you level, but when you reach level 100 you've gained all the ones pre-set for your archtype.
Do you know about what that is for bards? I reincarnated into human, and got 13 str, 14 dex, 13 con, 14 int, 12 cha, or something along those lines (level 75). Yeah...my character is male, so I couldn't go keph

The only thing I wonder about is why I got no charisma points...

You'll get them soon. That's the thing about being human - random at its best.

Bleh. Had to run and heal a lot for lobs and for gorgogs. =(
EDIT: Aaaaandd just lost level 76. Gragh.

Hmm, now I'm curious. Furrikin have a -1 fire resist penalty, so I'm not incredibly tanky against gorgogs either, but I can take two with illusoryself and one no troubles without.
Are you Tarot or Glamours? No reason to run if you can whore reflect to get sip balance.

I thought human stats were not random anymore. So at level 55, all humans of the same archetype get the same stat. Might be wrong, though.

It seems like I knew that too.

Merian should be able to do some pretty decent damage, and if you have illusoryself you shouldn't be abysmally squishy. That being said, I agree with Aison. Go something else if your aim is to not get swatted by the first demi warrior that looks at you.
What exactly does illusoryself do?

Syntax: WEAVE ILLUSORYSELF
ILLUSORYSELF (to see its health)
Power: 5 (Any)
The master illusionist may weave a near-perfect glamour of herself, down
to the precise detail. This illusory self will absorb all damage done to
the illusionist when it is periodically confused for the actual
illusionist during an attack. The glamour is fragile, however, and may
only take twice the health of the illusionist in damage before it will
be dispelled.
It makes you about twice as tanky until it dies, more if you get lucky. In the best casem, if you get lucky and they hit illusoryself every time until it dies, you basically have 3x as much health for the duration.

My understanding of the way things work (subject to epic fail)
Cha and instrument bond are key for bard damage. Int only provides a very minor bonus. You also should have a song that makes people from your city hit harder that you can play while bashing.
Raising your actrobatics boosts the denezin only dmp bonus as well as your dodge chance.

Anyone know what charisma buffs there are for bards? I know of BardicPresence, Netzach, and beauty blessing. Also, would beauty or war help more?
Rika2008-09-29 21:42:35
If going for damage on minorsecond, probably war.
Other buffs include throne, positive lion sphere, herofete.

Hmmm. How much do thrones cost, how much charisma, and where could I put one?

Thrones cost quite a bit, plus you need somewhere like your own to put them!
Weighted +2 cha.
