Interesting, considering if the highway patrol or department of transportation dip your tank, and there is anything OTHER than petroleum based diesel fuel, your wallet is going to hurt for a long long long time. Some mixes of B5 or B20(Meaning B meaning Biodiesel, and X meaning the percentage, so B5 would be 5% bio, 95% petro), are allowed, but if they catch you running full on biodiesel or vegetable oil without jumping through a ton of red tape, you're going to pay dearly.
Second, in the diesel pickup market, GM, Ford, and Dodge will all void your warranty if you run anything more than B5 or maybe B20 IIRC. Unfortunately, the common rail injection systems used are highly sensitive, and might not handle Biodiesel very well yet. That's why I still like the old mechanical diesels. You can run diesel, kerosene, waste motor oil, waste vegetable oil, and biodiesel. They aren't picky.

So, I went fact checking (late fact checking because I didn't see this post until the necro), and I have to apologize. All modern diesel engines are required to run on B5, and you will not be able to buy blends with less biodiesel than 5% in a few years...which is not half as impressive as the requirement that all gasoline engines run on E10.
My fault!

Apparently there was a debate tonight.
I'd be very happy if it's publicly available online somewhere and someone has a link!

Not worth watching this one. I could've punched them both by the end.

Is part one, you can youtube anything nowadays.
I would've punched Obama, and stabbed McCain a few times.
The only reason why I watch debates is to see 1. how political they are, and 2. what is not said.

Ok, and a related rant.
Normally, I watch CBS or CNN for post-debate commentary. They've both been as neutral as can be expected, CNN maybe a little less so, but nothing flagrant. I usually catch Fox the next day over lunch. I watched ABC after this one, and OMFG. You'd think Obama (who they said only mildly positive things about) was debating the devil himself. I don't think they could have said much worse about McCain. "They both said some things that are inaccurate. Let's talk about the major ones the McCain said." "They were both going after each other today. Let's talk about this one potentially very offensive thing that McCain said, and then let's talk about how Palin is trying to call Obama a terrorist, but doesn't have the spine to come out and say it."
Now, let's not dismiss the fact that they're technically reporting truth here. They did not invent anything to attack McCain with, and some of the issues were distinctly one-sided, especially with Palin's recent attacks. All the same, there was a huge string of them saying that there were two offenders, and then highlighting the offenses of one. Dubya tee eff, mate?
Boo, ABC. Definitely going back to CBS for the next debate.

Man, I wanted to slap them both. And the moderator for good measure. BORING debate. It's like they were just on repeat, same crap we've heard 100 times before. To say either "won" is a joke.
If John McCain said "Thank you for that question because..." or Obama's "This is the difference between Senator McCain and I," I would have lunged through the TV to slap them.

"That one" becomes...
Kaalak2008-10-08 05:57:40
So, to call it.
The Democrats will win the Presidency. I was fairly certain of this after their Primary when they chose Obama, but uncertain after the announcement of Palin. The Economy tanking will cause (has been causing!) the people to blame the incumbent party for their stewardship. Though McCain is a political wizard at pulling rabbits out of a hat (maneuvers pulled in Primary to beat Romney, Palin) even if the economy was rose-toasty he would have a slim chance.

I found it amusing (and very, very depressing) how both candidates supported "clean coal" and offshore drilling.

What else are you going to say to Joe Average who is watching their 410(K) disappear and have to pay 100s of dollars a week for gas.
Anything else stated would have immediately cost them their election chances.

I'm talking about energy bro, how clean coal is an oxymoron and how the whole coal industry itself is beating a dead horse but its a necessary evil etc, and how offshore drilling is basically a crapshoot and in the longrun only ends up helping the oil companies, etc. Dont know what you are on about. Also, NEWSFLASH: You are Joe Average too!

First of all you are talking to one of THE most cynical people on the planet . I'm not arguing that that offshore drilling will/will not work.
I'm arguing that people are emotional, scared, angry and worried about the future. When in large groups this is very powerful. Both candidates are saying 'we have an answer' which will make people rest easier (ie forget about it so people who know what they are doing can do what is necessary to fix the problem).
Off-shore drilling/clean coal is an idea that appeals to both sides and in particular the great Unwashed Undecided who always decide the election. To rock the boat and suggest what you REALLY think would be politically shooting yourself in the face.
Silvanus2008-10-08 06:19:33
Obama did release an ad this week, and did say in the debate that offshore drilling was a temporary solution to put off the energy crisis another 10, 20, or 30 years.

Bali's summed it up.
Oh and McCain wants to build Nuclear power plants. He thinks Tina Fay will be a great VP because she is a good girl, and her husband is a tough guy too.
