When electoral college is gone, I'll care more. Until then, I'll just throw my vote away with the rest of the maryland republicans and enjoy my bitching privileges for the next 4 years.
Edit: And if it makes you feel any better, back when there were a ton of people in the running for both parties, all the internet quizzes agreed that if Obama and I came into physical contact, there would be a giant, world-ending explosion of conflicting opinions.

Its just a fun mix of me not caring (see above comment about electoral college) and trying to get an amusing response out of the people who are actually brainwashed by the liberal garbage the mainstream media constantly is spewing.

This coming from the person who says "they are not really following."
And says something like
"democrats tax the hell out of people who can take care of themselves"
and calls Obama
"an arrogant hippie communist who is spineless"
Yeah, ok, keep telling yourself that, maybe one day you'll believe the things coming out your ass (or mouth, can't tell the difference with garbage like this).

Both are easy to see without trying. I'm not paying all that much attention, but damn, anyone who has a tv or computer can figure out those statements without too much effort.

You are absolutely ridiculious if you actually believe that.
1. He's not a Communist, that is what every Conservative person brands any kind of liberal. There is a huge difference between a Communist and a Liberal, the most damaging thing you can call him is a radical, not a Communist. Honestly...
2. Spineless? Yarite, if elected out of any President before in history he'd have the highest chance of being assassinated because people can't accept other races. The fact that he still faces an election, where he has to understand that he has a high chance of being assassinated is completely the opposite of spineless.
3. Arrogant? Hippie? You've obviously never once followed anything Obama has done or said, like what you have openly admitted.
4. Tax the hell out of you where you don't see any benefits? Do you honestly believe all that extra tax money goes to making a welfate state? If you do, you are brainwashed.
Sorry, here's some of the things that extra tax will help with:
Education, improving public schools which helps everybody.
Construction, like road improvement?
Fuel efficiency
Yes, military funding which is benefital as long as USA acts like the police of the World
I can keep going on and on about the things that more tax will help with, but to put it into more perspective I'll focus on this:
Where will extra money come for from all these things both these candidates want to do? At least Obama wants to tax the rich and not the poor, where 70% of America's money is owned by less then 1% of the population.
For every state in the world through the times, money has come from three main sources of income: Taxation, Tarriffs, and foreign investments. With Globalization, and the World Trade Organization, Tarriffs are no longer an option. With the Euro stronger then the American dollar for five yerars running, there are no more foreign investments, and the only option left is Taxation to turn things around.
Sorry, but taxation for four years for benefits for eight years is fine by me.

It was one of the most unusual debates I've watched, and probably my favorite. It felt more like an ongoing argument, which is what I like to see in a debate.
I think Obama pretty much pummeled McCain, but that's to be expected. He isn't a lawyer for nothing.
@Silvanus: I think Obama actually did a really good job at staying on point, rather than dodging questions. McCain on the other hand kept spewing random history lessons, and his entire argument was, "I have experience, you should vote for me!" That's a completely ridiculous thing to say, especially since people, like myself, seem to disagree with everything that those experiences taught him. Obama kept having to retaliate against the things McCain was saying, which, at times, were actually just blatant lies, but he always kept that short and would say, "To get back on point," then immediately start answering the actual topic question.
@Acrune: You do sound very ridiculous at times. I know one of the reasons you're for Obama is because you think he's going to tax you more. I know you get paid well, you have the same kind of job I do. But unless you're making 250k+ a year, you are -not- in the category that's going to see any help from McCain. That's actually a huge problem I see, people who think they are "wealthy" seem to support McCain, when they are actually no where near being wealthy enough to be helped by him. And maybe the things you're saying are driven by a lack of caring, but in my book apathy is the worst thing of all.

Thank you. I'm fairly sure that under alot of the big spending, tax-raising liberals the economy benefitted.
Also, that's an interesting article Anon.
"Liberal Media" *giggle*
EDIT: Yes, also to continue Deschain's point, McCain's favourite phrase of the night was "You don't understand" or "Senator Obama doesn't understand" to which Obama would usually spend a few minutes with a fluent (somewhat long-winded) answer showing that he does understand. Obama, on the otherhand, often said that "John is right", which may either be seen as Intellectual generosity (trying to find common ground) or just letting McCain step over him.
That moderator was probably the best ever, this whole campaign season to.
Unknown2008-09-27 14:50:52
Obama was -much- more respectful during the entire debate. He acted much more mature than McCain. McCain spent 90% of the time giggling and snickering, Obama did not say a single snide thing. Except maybe the tea comment, but that wasn't really directed at McCain, as much as it was at the picture McCain was trying to paint of him.
I also loved the part where McCain said Obama didn't know the difference between a tactic and a strategy, and about 15 minutes later in the debate Obama was saying something, and he used the word "strategic", and right as he did so he turned and looked at McCain.

Thats different. I agree that it takes guts for him to run for presidency, but he doesn't have to balls to lead the country in the way that it needs to be lead.

I've seen ton of money go into education with no results. Hai baltimore. However, some of the best public schools around are within a few miles of me, so the schools that I'm really affected by likely would not be affected.
There's currently tons of construction around here. Couldn't possibly be more of it, so no change is needed from what I've seen.
Fuel efficiency is not an issue for me.
Military funding is important to me for several reasons, but somehow I suspect that McCain will come up with the money for that.

Of course I sound ridiculous. I'm bored, and if I don't provoke you guys, this thread is going to be terribly uninteresting read of the Obama fanbois reciting what the liberal media tells you to think, and who really wants to read that? Sure, from the stats you or Raiha showed me says that there wouldn't be much tax difference for me between the two candidates, but Obama strikes me as a dirty, dirty liar, so if that is indeed his tax plan, it wouldn't surprise me to see it go higher shortly after he gets elected. Its kind of like what cable companies do to get you to switch to their service. Give you a low introductory rate, then stick it to you when its too late to change.
Oh, and give me one good reason why I should really care about who to vote for? No matter what I do, Obama has Maryland locked up. My vote does nothing. Why should I pay attention to a bunch of stodgy old men lying their asses off?

But all of the things you have against Obama is just heresy. Go to that website, ontheissues or whatever, and read what each of them stand for, and you'll see who is more of a "dirty liar" in the coming months.
And of course he's arrogant. So is McCain. They're running to be the president of the united states, of course they're arrogant.
And the liberal media thing is a dead horse. It's just something conservatives bring up whenever they want to discredit our arguments.
Right after the debate was over on FOX, the anchor said, "And up next we'll have some footage that the McCain camp is already circulating about something Obama repeatedly said during the debate."
Yes, very liberal.

This is the United States of America, we need to remember that and look out for others as much as we do ourselves.

Actually, listening to McCain talk, he doesn't seem all that arrogant. Obama though... yikes.
And the liberal media thing is absolutely true. Everywhere you look (except fox) is positively dripping with liberal bias.
Just because its fun, lets look at this gallup poll, showing the breakdown of who watches which of the 3 biggest media outlets.

Obama seems arrogant because he is naturally better. His self evaluation just looks like arrogance to most people.
I spent an entire semester watching FOX news because it's all my roommate ever put it on.
They were not fair. They were quite ridiculous at times.
