It stays as an athame instead of a sickle. You can still summon your cudgel!

I would not get a shield rune for the simple fact that it can lock you into a specific archetype. Its fine if you slap it on a master instrument or whatever you call 'em, but what if you slap it on your athame and want to go druid?
Wasn't there some remove option for great runes?

I know, it was a rhetorical question.
Sylphas2010-06-16 06:26:17
I already removed one from my mandolin. I guess I could have just used it as a shield, but meh. I kind of want to lock into an archetype, I'm tired of hopping.

Where does one get needles or bottles to imbue with esteem? Only ones I find in shops are already imbued.
Siam2010-06-16 11:21:34
Jewelers make them, Calixa.
Zalandrus2010-06-16 11:42:40
Jewelers make the needles for really cheap (usually only 1 comm needed).
Bottles are made with the glassworks skill (or whatever it's called) in Arts, the same skill you use to make vials. Takes 3 gems to make 1 bottle.

You can also imbue tinderboxes, which are fairly cheap at 1 iron comm per.
Noola2010-06-16 14:58:55
I prefer imbuing flowers, which most shops sell for like 30-40 gold.
Ileein2010-06-16 16:59:04
I tend to imbue flowers (and then give them out as impromptu wedding presents when I realize I had not prepared any).
Everiine2010-06-16 17:18:19
I imbue wooden spikes I don't use for heads.
Question: If I use the artifact doohicky to turn a manse room into an outside room, will it be affected by outside weather and the day/night cycle, and will those effects show up in the LOOK and QL?

There is no weather or day/night in manses, even if they're marked outdoors.

I thought the outside room thing was a mechanical thing just so that you could use outdoor furniture in your manse?

I have a question too:
I'm not sure if this is something cool to ISSUE ME to ask, plus I can't log in just now anyway, so hopefully some nice friendly Adminy type will see this and respond so I don't screw up.
Say I do a play in another game, now, this play was not written down in that game and the only record someone might have of it is if some audience member happened to have logged it while I was doing it. Now, say I want to use that play, only tweaked a tiny bit, in Lusternia.
Is that allowed?

That, and you can FLY in those rooms. Maybe stargaze and stuff too. Which is actually more useful, since most furniture is made for indoors even if it's outdoor-themed specifically because manses have that problem.

If it fits in Lusternia, I don't see why not. You can't plagiarize yourself.

While I have no admin's opinion on this, generally speaking, I find that things adapted to Lusternia never really pan out as the shortcut they might seem. That could be an artifact of my own creative process, though. But I find that an adaptation always feels like it stinks unless I do more work rewriting it than it would have taken to write something inspired by Lusternia from the start.
However, when I take something outside Lusternia and use it solely as a conceptual inspiration for something that is written explicitly for Lusternia, that works much better. My series of plays titled Contraption have a number of those things pulled out of Firefly, Sneakers, Mission Impossible 3, Leverage, and a few other sources, some of which I didn't realize until after it was written, which worked very well only because I was writing something natively Lusternian and then grabbing a few ideas out of other sources as the story wandered into territory where they fit.
I don't think I'm coming anywhere near answering your question, am I?
Noola2010-06-16 18:05:08
Oh, the play in question really could fit in Lusternia without much in the way of 'adapting.' The tweaks I'd be using mostly revolve around the character's appearance and so on.
I just wouldn't want to accidentally become leafy because someone who just happened to also play that other game at the same time I did that play and happened to recognize it thought I was being a copy cat and tried to turn me in.
But, it's a fun little play and I'd like to share it again!

What does one do when a design has been sitting in pending status, neither rejected nor approved, for quite some time? Are there acceptable alternatives to thumb-twiddling?
Shaddus2010-06-16 19:20:36
Recall it and submit it. That's what I do.
