What's a good race for bards? For that matter, what're good stats for bards? I haven't really been active since their release. Does int or cha determine their damage? Does dexterity factor into acrobatics somehow? (Assume I'm a Spiritsinger for this, by the way.)
If you're going Spiritsinger, it'd be best to go for the spec race, Wild Elfen. As Charune said, the damage formula is based on a combination of INT and CHA and Wild Elfen get both well enough. Dexterity (as far as I know) only matters for Combat stances and whatnot, but not so much for actual Acrobatics.

How tolerant is the bardic council regarding controversial subjects?
Namely, I have a work in mind which would include an incestuous relationship and inbreeding (as a key part of the plot, not some pathetic attempt at sensationalism), and I was wondering whether it would be tolerated or regarded as "too much"? Also, I realize this isn't the right place to ask as you can't really know for sure, so someone kindly point me in the right direction (by giving me the e-mail for bardic support or whatever).

Pretty tolerant, considering the history the Viscanti are supposed to have.
As long as you aren't going into detail that romance writers would be envious of, you should be all right.
In other words, keep it PG-13, not R.

I seem to remember Ialie posting something pretty risque, which got accepted but with a "minors don't read this!" or similar. I didn't actually...read it though, so I don't know what it consisted of. Go back and check it.

Couple of questions for my alts:
For my druid, should I put lessons in Nature/Druidry for bashing, or Herbs for money?
For my monk, what modifiers affect bashing? Does Speed affect? Which is the best modifier?

Hard, speed, and skive. I think. Not sure about hard, actually. Speed is by far the best.

After a conversation with Sadhyra on GNT I'm really confused, and I don't want to wait to find out IC for me, though Vio will be asking Arel or Eliron later.
I always thought that there was an advantage (other than "it looks pretty!") to having an artisan-crafted instrument instead of the worn lutes. Evidently there isn't?

Another question about monks. Is Pysmet or Acrobatics better for bashing for an Illithoid Nekotai?

I could be entirely wrong about the instruments, but I can't find anything on the ABs saying that crafted ones are better. You might not be able to bond with the free newbies ones? I never tried...

The worn lutes don't last that long; without the use of a rack, it's all but impossible to keep one long enough to bond it. Otherwise, there's no advantage besides looks.

I actually don't think you can bond with the freebie. I had a newbie come to me that practicing wasn't working for her.
I told her it was because she didn't have any talent and that another guild would be better for her. Then i told her i was just kidding and that she would have to get a real instrument to do that with.
Lendren2009-01-27 15:12:16
There are a few bonded worn lutes in my guild's instrument rack.
Iola2009-01-27 15:24:17
You can bond with them but like Lendren said they decay so fast if you can, you've been practicing a lot!
And, frankly, they're not as pretty.

Also, the health regen is nice and bloodboil is extremely nice with the massive Illithoid ego.

Erm, I assume the massive illithoid ego comes from illdrain, and not their measly 7 charisma?

Indeed. At high levels the illdrain ego is insane.

How effective is Resilience? I have around 300 lessons lying around and I want to do something to improve my bashing ability since I'm already trans Celestialism. Will that small amount make a noticeable difference?

At Transcendent, your physical damage reduction will be roughly 25%, and it takes about 1700 lessons to get there, so... you'd be looking at around 4% to 4.5%.
Resilience has one or two other benefits, such as shrugging poisons more often, so consider that, also.
