It means that he's attacking something currently. You'll have to find a way to pacify him before you can influence him.

Eh? That's weird. I'm standing there. No enemies, no yelling that they usually do.
Xiel2009-03-05 03:23:45
If they were attacking someone or if someone hit them, they'll stay that way until they reset (which I have no idea how long is til then).

Mobs don't "stand down" from their attack cycle until either 1) Their "current target" dies, 2) The current target logs out, or 3) They reset.

If the person they were attacking comes back and they're not set to standguard permanent, they'll try to chase that individual down.

OK. I was influencing the widowriders and half the hags though. Maybe that means that they're in the midst of resetting.

Does lifedrain in psymet work on mobs? Assuming I don't have bloodboil yet, what are three good things to lock in while bashing?

Can you change your artisanal submission?

As a bard, I can hunt, influence, etc. non-stop for eight hours at a stretch and never have my willpower drop more than a few points below my maximum.

Is that due to the rune or trans discipline?

Trans resilience was the difference for me (as a warrior) between using up endurance and not.

Someone explain prestige/library things, and how that works? After published, how long until it is judged for prestige, what does that do, and who decides these things?

It's a 2-year thing.
On year 1, the librarian (not you, sorry!) can submit books for prestige. Once the year is over, no more books can be submitted.
On year 2, the books are judged by the Admin and given a point score.
On year 1 (when it cycles again), the winner is announced! Yay! Winners get an honour line and the library that submitted it gets a huge chunk of culture points (== power).

Does influencing even affect willpower? I'm always at max willpower, and I'm only up to Insomnia in Discipline. Oh, and I have performance up, does that drain willpower? Cause I do note that willpower falls like 5 every few seconds, but I immediately regen it.

I'm sure both contribute, but with trans discipline, I used to have to spend a lot of time in Ialie's gem/rocking-chair room, maybe a half hour for every two hours of hunting; but once I got the rune, I never had to visit one again, except when I raised that shrine the one time.

I really don't know how much influencing with performance up drains, but that's kind of the point: the rune means you don't have to think about it, period. Except for a few extreme things like shrine-raising, and maybe keeping metawake and review up for an hour, you can just pretend there isn't a willpower score.

Nope-- lifedrain only works on unarmed combat actions. Kicks and punches. I believe it heals both health and some wounding.

I have two general psymet hunting combinations:

psi sub bloodboil
psi super regeneration
psi id psiarmour

and

psi sub bloodboil
psi super regeneration
psi id bonedensity

Bloodboil is amazing. Though, without it you should setup psiarmour, regeneration, and bone density.

Nope, pretty sure that was changed. I could have sworn it worked with my shofa. But lifedrain does not work for hunting.

I'm Apprentice Discipline, and do not have a rune, and I don't even know that willpower exists. Whenever I make alts, I always get surprised by the fact by willpower/endurance. What I'm trying to say is, I don't think influencing drains willpower, or if it does, its on the level of about 5 per influence attack.

That said, I have no idea about hunting. I know I've had to use the gem/rocking chair in Deepnight for my alts whenever I go hunting, but I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the rune.

I am trying to collect 100 dream leeches for a keg of absinthe, which will take several passes of clearing the Lake. Where do I keep the corpses in the meantime so they don't poof on me? I put one leech corpse in my stock room as an experiment, but it poofed a few hours later.

You...don't. That's rather the point.

You don't.

You have to use them as you get them-- when they respawn on Water, the corpses you're holding will disappear because they're the same creature, just alive again.
