Hi guys,

I've coded a way by which players can choose to gag aethersight from specified people so they can ignore cases of spam scrying if they so choose. It's entirely opt-in, it's not on by default, etc.

My question for those of you who would use this - how do you want it to work for length of block? Should it allow the first scry through and then have a five minute cooldown until you'll see another scry by the person? If no cooldown, should it disappear on logout? If it does not disappear on logout, we'll add an alert when you log in to remind you.

Thoughts?

Maybe you let the first scry go through, and you're able to use some sort of command like RECSCRIES (recent scries).

RECSCRIES could, based on the timer you set for it (max 1 hour), tell you who has scried you how many times in that timeframe.

3184h, 4329m, 5523e, 10p exkdb- RECSCRIES

In the last 30 minutes you have been scried by...
Rika 4 times
Daedalion 20 times
Thoros 1 time
Narsrim 999 times

Or something?

Edit: Also, let the first scry go through?

I like Myrkr's idea, though for syntax consistency I'd like it to be listscries or showscries.

The way I'd like it is such: A settings option to toggle scry filtering, but regardless of if it is on or not, will let you LISTSCRIES/SHOWSCRIES, which will give you a counter for however many times person A has scried you since login, with an indicator of the time of the last scry. There would also be a CLEARSCRIES function to clear the counters.

As an alternative or an addition, make a prompt flag that shows on the next prompt (e.g. SCRIED) after the scries. Unintrusive, yet informative.

Then again, I think I'm orienting my thoughts more along the lines of a blanket scry line block.

Hmm...I'm wary of the possible uses scry-snubbing can give because I personally use repeated scries when I'm chasing someone. Initiating this would essentially provide anyone who knows how to make a trigger have a Veil whenever they get scried the first time and then just keep it up for no power cost, loss, or problems. Heck, I dislike the Veil skill as it is, and it's already limited to only two guilds. :/
Vote: No, plz

You'd still be scried, you just wouldn't be informed of it.

I think scry snub will only come with Aethersight. So, repeated scryage or not, if the target has Veil and Aethersight in their skill pool, they'll be using it regardless of scrying snub or not.

Edit: What Casilu said, too. Listen!

No, scry snub won't stop the scrying, it will stop the receiving person getting the aethersight message from it.

EDIT: Mass ninja!

lol@xiel.

Wouldn't mind being able to block munsia from scry-whoring me. I like Garmr's Myrkr's idea.

Actually the proper syntax would be

About listscries: You can easily code something like that.
Dysolis2008-09-30 17:12:43
I love this idea. That is all.
Kaalak2008-10-01 01:25:40
Sounds good. Thank you.

remove scrysnub on logout, and then have the SCRIES command that lists the last time the people on your scrysnub list scried you.

so like:

SCRIES
You are snubbing scries from Sam, John and Bubba

Sam (10:45:24 10/10/08)
John (11:12:13 9/8/07)
Bubba (never)
