The essence gain nerf is pretty harsh considering they go completely free every IC year and we have to build up the thrones from rod to crown all over again.

Otherwise, everyone else is just whining. Domoths just pretty much became a wildnodes for demis every 12 RL days, nothing more to it.

The disparity between domoth mobs is pretty meh, but hey, can deal with it.

P.S. Suckers, I got rank 1 already.

It's a pair of domoths per year, not all of the domoths.
Unknown2008-10-03 20:58:41
Well yeah, the post is still applicable even if it's just a pair. Call it 2/9ths of a wildnode then!
Xenthos2008-10-03 22:01:26
Essence gain didn't need to be changed-- it would've been better fixed by limiting the number of thrones that can be hold so that nobody can hold three. (There are currently 3 people who can hold three-- myself, Ilyarin, and Sojiro, and between the three of us we could hold all 9 thrones if things ended up going that way-- at least, if Ilyarin and I didn't share the same medallion. That's still a problem, and will grow as more medallions enter the game.)

However-- I'm glad the power finally got hit. It's been necessary since Domoths were introduced-- good to see it fixed.

Woooo

Maybe it would have been better so that no matter how many Domoths you held, your essence gain would only be for the single crown. (ie 25k)

No, even then it needs to be capped as to number that can be held. Like I said, 3 ascendants with differing seals can hold all 9 domoths. Making the number required larger will enforce more turnaround-- being able to rely on one person to hold a third of the Domoths is pretty big. Instead of having 3 different people trying to co-ordinate efforts, it's just one person with whoever is around when they're ready.
Rika2008-10-03 22:38:26
I don't see why it matters so much. There isn't really much difference between having one person hold 3 and having 3 people hold one each. In fact, it's actually better overall to have 3 different people holding one each, as they do not have to worry about which Domoth to upgrade as much. Oh well, doesn't really concern me either way.

There's a huge difference. In terms of Celenwilde, when they had 4 people holding the Domoths instead of 9, they could keep it all amongst a small group of people who were around at the same time. When 2-3 of them were present, they could just get whoever else was around and hit the ones that needed it.

If it's spread out to 9 different people, however, that's just not going to work. There's going to be a lot more time-overlapping in terms of "when we can claim." You'll have people with thrones that they can only really upgrade during prime-time, as well as the ones who can upgrade during off-peak.

Fine, vitality as well. But seriously, a lot of why people think demigod warriors is so tanky is 1) we have more health from surge and 2) people like Thoros will do everything he can to buff himself up as much as possible. Reminds me a bit about warrior damage. Hmm!

Actually I think the armor's at least as big a factor as any of the others you mentioned.

Drawdown/Nightkiss have a larger impact than the difference between armours, I think. It's only when you add those to armour that it becomes extremely effective. Armour alone is nice, but not as protective as decent robes + the Nightkiss/Drawdown bonus, + barkskin.
Rika2008-10-03 23:45:33
Very few domoth attacks are actually physical.
Gregori2008-10-04 04:29:09
The disparity in being able to get Domoths is a major issue for classes I think.

It is pretty much known that Warriors can take any Domoth. While druids can take 2 maybe 3 at crown level, (going by what I have heard, not actual experience), and it is because of the massive DMP disparities that this is possible.

Druids don't have nightkiss or drawdown, and in fact (in hartstone at least) the only physical DMP they have is a novice skill which is even less than Mages novice DMP skill, and Mages have even more damage avoidance in illusions.

Meaning Domoths are geared primarily for warriors. Heck, it is constantly said that the only good ascendant class is warrior and that really makes it annoying for those of us who don't want to play a warrior.

Damage == balanced.

Tankability == balanced.

Warriors == balanced.

Anyone != a warrior == dropped on the head as child.

Really now... to even suggest that damage -isn't- perfectly balanced... pissed.gif

Despite "popular opinion," I can't take 3 War mobs. Or, apparently, 3 Beauty mobs.

Just trying to get swings off at them is hard, much less trying to hit and run.

...would be like suggesting that a change to how domoths are gained and held isn't perfect!

MOD EDIT: This is a bug.
Esano2008-10-05 02:18:16
I'd bug it, and hopefully a kind(?) admin will manually reset that pair of Domoths until the bug is fixed.
