As brought up in the State of Lusternia Conference, Cosmic is too easy to do hit and run raids on while Ethereal is too hard to raid in any manner. I propose the following 6 changes to fix that:
1] Move the cosmic cubix exits to the Nexi. Prevents hit and run raids with the cubix. Related to section 4.
2] Add cubix exits to the Ethereal Nexi. Adds more functionallity to cubixes.
3] Seperate Etherglom and Etherseren into two parts each:
Part one would be an Elemental-like area. It is unterrainable (Etherseren is always Hartstone forest, Etherglom is always Wyrden forest.) and contains the Aspects of Hart/Crow. Uses Liveforest as the defense. No daughters/silver ladys. Entered using Faethorn archways, which are moved here instead of at the nexus.
Part two would be more Cosmic-like. It is terrainable (and, resultingly, meldable by people who terrain) has the daughters/silver ladys, Nexi, Falls and Moon/Night Avatars. It does not have Liveforest, but instead uses a new defense effect which behaves like ripple. Connected by the Feather and Stones to the elementalish areas of Etherglom and Etherseren, both ways. Feather is moved 1 room south.
4] Add an object on Astral for each org on their org sphere. This will drop you out on the Shadow/Moon Falls for Ethereal and the old cubix exit for Cosmic. Goes both ways. Allows people to get in without a cubix. Related to section 1.
5] Move the Pool of Stars down one room, remove the room it is in now, prevent fear effects from having you run off of nexus objects. Because it was only moved to prevent beckoning off the nexus and because fearing people off of nexuses in lame.
6] Change the commune's college quest to no longer require Moon/Night bubbles, instead using both new parts for each org's ethereal plane. For the newbies.

Sure, make sure ladies/daughters come back automatically too. Also we communes could use our own plane to get essence.

anybody with Gallop can just gallop past the guard room I am sure. I used to Gallop all the way south in nil to get to the Mists of Nil quickly.

For Ethereal raiding, only two changes are really needed - move the archways back to their old locations and move Dark Nest away from the Ravenwood.
Everything stated above is basically make Ethereal and Elemental/Cosmic the exact same thing. Which would be lame.

I have to agree here... make ethereal only easier to raid if ladies / daughters just repop. Otherwise EVERY even small raid will have a Supernal / Demon Lord slaying effect.
PS: But if daughters / ladies just repop it would be boring too.

If daughters/ladies are made repopping, make their deaths cost power to the org too.

Do you like never having a free moment? Does defending from login to qq make you happy? It would be far better to add cubix exits and leave the archway alone.

Sure? Angels cost so little it's hardly worth it to begin with. A full raid of Celestia (excluding Supernals) would MAYBE cost it 30 power. Lulz.

Unless Cities gets Totems of our own that feed us power, no

Let's give cities 20 more entrances each, and make it so that statues take 4 RL days to build, too. During that time, they should be easily destroyable, and cannot have runes placed on them.
Oh, and they only work when bonded by an Enchanter, where an enchanter can only bond to one at a time.

Do communes and cities really have to be copies of one another?
Doman2008-10-06 12:04:36
No, which was the point I was making. You don't need a plane for essence, and we don't need the totems.

Ok. Read the thread again, and view all the little "if we don't need this, then you don't need this" comparisons being made down the thread. That way you'll be able to post about the actual issue without getting completely sidetracked and confused by all the Xenthosing.
A new plane for essence and totems have nothing to do with the original topic.

I prefer Ladies and Daughters remaining the way they are, as I believe having to bring Fae to actually get them makes it innovative. As for moving the Archway's, I'm going to say no. As that's not really going to stop anyone from constantly popping in and out. Just give Etherwilde and Etherglom some cubix exits, move the aspect nest from the Ravenwood.. etc.

All i can say is, the best time rp-wise i had was in one of the communes a long, long time ago.. however, because the respective planes are armored to the core raiding singly is out of the question.. which drove me away..
And for a game rumored to be built on conflict, I find this enforced peace odd.. (and actually such a thing is a source of boredom)
If you (re)build it, it will come(pk).. Now if people wants some semi-peaceful ground where they can stay and just pick flowers.. leave it as is..

It is! I mean, after a fashion. Faethorn is in a state of "War of the Hugs". Wherein who can hug the most fae and drag them back to their ethereal area wins.
Having different intensities of conflict between differing organizations is a good thing however. It gives more options for players to find a niche that they are happy with.
