The STABLE INCUBATE COLT incubator.

At least, I think that's the syntax.
Rika2008-10-13 08:39:22
You have to STABLE INCUBATE COLT at the stable and then wait for 30 hours.

Bugged a few typos, but one big thing stood out to me that I idea'd already, but....can BEAST INFO please work? Limiting it to BEAST INFO sucks since I don't remember my ponies with their numbers. sad.gif

Would be awesome, but worst case: You can fairly simply alias it too. smile.gif

Just wondering...

Is it possible for someone to train a beast with a passive ability then trade it to another owner

So like... I could train a horse to bodyblock and with the influences then trade it to some youngin'?

Unknown2008-10-13 12:40:16
I -think- so since the ab references to "get a good price!" in the trader skill. It would be cool too, you could make gold selling trained beasts. I totally want to do that. biggrin.gif
Noola2008-10-13 12:45:48
How funny! My colt turned into a filly during incubation! laugh.gif

It would make sense that you could train them and sell them, but the new owner couldn't use the trained abilities without knowing how, I'm sure.

Why? I thought the beastmaster skills are so you can -train- beasts in them. But if the beast is already trained any owner regardless of their beastmaster skill could order the beast to use the skill itself. Imo, that would make sense. (That's the way Imperian does it too).

Anyone want to test that?

EDIT: Otherwise it wouldn't make much sense selling a beast either. They could just train their own after all.
Unknown2008-10-13 12:52:06
Eh, I suppose you have a point. Still, since the syntaxes are listed with each AB, I'm not sure which way it goes in this case...

I figured the trading was to save some folks time in having to incubate and raise the little fellers.

There are references to being unable to fly even if you have the inherent ability, if you do not have the beastmastery ability.

There is some leeway for passives but actives not so much...

I just think it would be nice if we could train them up and sell them or gift them to young people without requiring them investing in the skillset.

Actually I understood it like that (for example):

Colts have the inherent ability for mount and gallop. But you still need to train them in mount and gallop so you can actually use this (but since it's inherent it won't take up trains / lessons?).

Once it's trained you can use mount / gallop. Possibly even someone who could not train them themselves? Honestly, I think someone should just test it. sad.gif

That's a good point. You'd get to skip the whole IG year of youth phase that way. Plus, someone might have fed up their beast with more body foods than mind or spirit foods and want to trade it for a beast that got fed more mind foods than body or spirit foods or something.

Though, training them up and selling them sounds like a fun way to make gold, if it's possible.

They show up the same was as malachs inherents which I can't train him to use, just returns that it's an inherent ability.

but maybe after the first batch of beasts are risen we will know for sure

Could someone just confirm?

beast retrain-
Makes a beast forget all non-permanent skills

beast retrain all-
As above but also resets the body/mind/spirit values

The help says BEAST RETRAIN ALL but the actual syntax is BEAST RETRAIN FULL. If you do the ALL syntax, it just does a regular retrain with no error message, and uses up your chance to retrain doing it. I wasted over 20,000gp of reagents, and lost a month, figuring out this bug. (Reported.)

The oneiroi kindly informed me, I got distracted by reagent purchasing... sowwie

Descriptions of feed items:

Eggs-
The paper bag has been treated with beeswax, making it somewhat waterproof;
however, the sulfurous stench of rotten eggs could almost make the Swampghast
gag. One can only wonder what type of creature would be capable of consuming
such a mess.

Meat-
The paper bag has been treated with beeswax, making it somewhat waterproof;
however, this hasn't stopped blood from staining its surface. Within the bag are
scraps of meat, including large bones, the perfect meal for an indiscriminate
carnivore.

Grain-
The paper bag has been treated with beeswax, making it somewhat waterproof.
Sweet smelling oats fill the bag.

Fish-
The paper bag has been treated with beeswax, making it somewhat waterproof.
Among the scales and guts that fill up the bag are several fish heads, their
glassy eyes staring blankly into nothingness.

Fruit-
The paper bag has been treated with beeswax, making it somewhat waterproof;
however, the ripe odour arising from overripe fruit still penetrates the air
around it. Within the bag is a variety of colourful bruised fruit, each on the
verge of decay.

Vegetables-
The paper bag has been treated with beeswax, making it somewhat waterproof.
Wrapped tightly within is a bundle of an assortment of vegetables, most of which
are wilted and rubbery.

I'd like to point out how silly it is to have the only horses available for incubation being sold in a village. Glomdoring is actively guarding the shop from outsiders buying them, and that puts a bit of a crimp in the testing of the system with a wider audience. Wouldn't it be better to sell them at Trader Bob's instead?

Awesome!

Did they move guards there now? XD

If it's horses that are being sold...Angkrag does have that skeletal horse. That would work, wouldn't it?
