Admin, I'd love you forever if the horses had personalities that differed based on feed, reagents, or something else!
Their looks are based on what they eat, right?

I think so. Some people say it's random, but for some reason, I think it's feed based.
I want horsey personalities! I'll even take random ones!

I don't think the feed/appearance thing kicks in until the horse is grown though. But I could be wrong. I haven't had mine long enough to tell if it's a gradual change.
As for personality... how would that work?
Eventru2008-10-14 19:03:29
You're all right. Feed does affect the appearance of an adult beast, however its exact manifestation can vary. Try out the different combinations!

No idea. Maybe each feed gives a personality trait, and combining them in certain ways give different ones?

Emotes and responses. Like, maybe a horse with a paranoid personality would be like...
If it's your paranoid horse...
QUOTE
Pet horse
You pet a horse ingratiatingly.
A horse hesitates for a moment before slowly nuzzling your hand.

A horse quickly backs away and neighs in alarm, watching you cautiously.

Personalities and non-generic training messages ahoy!
(Yes, I wanted to use that emoticon.)

I would totally help make personalities for pets if the admin's reason for not doing was they lacked the workforce to make it.
Unknown2008-10-14 19:57:14
Oh! I had another idea.
Let's say you know you're going away on Vacation to somewhere, or you're saving up money for a new comp or something and can't get to Lusty / don't have enough time to get to Lusty to pay for your beast in the stables.
Maybe you could ENTRUST your BEAST WITH (a trustworthy person) to make sure your horse doesn't go and die?
Also, it's be awesome if you could put feed into the stall your horse is normally kept in, so it maybe eats that instead of from the feedbag. Like the feedbag is a last resort, but you could FILL BOX WITH (foodtype) FEED FOR (beast)?
/random

Stabling already lasts for longer than an RL month, I think. Also, Steedtrade is there if you want someone to hold onto it too.

Am I the only person who likes the fact that the stables feed the beast while they're stabled so as long as you're all paid up, you don't have to worry about your beast starving for 3 game years (almost 6 weeks, right?)

Touch'e, Xiel, Noola, Touch'e...
Gwylifar2008-10-14 20:10:07
I think the only reason they're eager to not use the free (well, no-extra-cost) stable food is that it doesn't cause the beast to grow up. In a week when everyone's past this initial flurry of activity, this won't be so big an issue.

Yet another idea, NO IDEA HOW IT'D WORK...
... beast affection points? How much your beasty loves you, basically. Having higher affection points may make it skills work better or something?
I don't know. I've played too many web-browser pet games...

I CLAIM THE TITLE OF FIRST HORSE KIDNAPPER!!
You are wielding a young female horse with a grey mane in your right hand.
-> to excape Penelope.
PS: You quickly toss a young female horse with a grey mane to Penelope, who catches it nimbly. --> faeling

I had to threaten her with Loti Spores.

You know, I don't see why "Mountable" on custom beasts costs 100 credits, when it costs 10 trains to put it on the beast anyway...Should probably be cheaper
Unknown2008-10-15 00:08:24
You don't have to train the intrinsic abilities. If the ability is on the mount already (and shows up in parentheses), then you can use it for free, basically.
Doman2008-10-15 02:28:01
Yeah, I know, but, I would rather pay the 10 training points then pay the 100 credits
