That sounds about the same as what it takes to kill Cthoglogg, except he doesn't have some beefy invincible mob guarding each orb. The thing is, I'm pretty sure doing that also takes down physic web, so you're doing both counter-quests there. We can't even start our second counter quest until Cthoglogg is dead. ):

It's main difficulty is that you need more loti spores for every single god damn step then there are actually out there at one time.

That not enough items exist at one time for what is required is a problem on both sides of the quest. You have to game the timing. I feel like there's not enough data for us to debate which side of this quest is more difficult. I think you should destroy the organs/banish illithoid enough times for Xiel, Xenthos, and I to do the counter quest, and then we can hash it out. smile.gif

Last time it happened, Solanis did all the work and some random kid got the honours.

Ahahaha. Quest is highly prone to that. I only got my line because we didn't realise Cthoglogg didn't have avatar health so I got the lasthit from Forren...ninja.gif (he made me do all the work for a 2nd try though sad.gif)

taking down the web is separate, involving manta's and something else, I'm not sure if you need to take it down before or after Zenobia, but it's definitely a separate deal

If you guys just killed Zenobia and a bunch of queens, it would be impossible to get her back up in the time that Xiel raised Cthoglogg. It could take RL days to get her back. ):

Weakening Cthoglogg isn't too hard, can do it over like 6 hours, mostly waiting for spirit re-pops. When I took down the organs I did it over like two hours once I figured out what to do but... it bugged out at some point and one of the things I needed actually re-popped without me having to do the collect excessive amounts of loti spores part to make it. Twice.

Ah, I thought it was that because raising and making a bunch of the queens invincible is how you raise the web. Figured killing them would undo it.

I know. You wanna get the honour, you better ally yourself with glamours and many rituals users.

Still hope someone's gonna bring him up again so I can bring him down.

No. Killing Zenobia requires that the invulnerability-aura-whatever-the-heck-it-is be down (not necessarily that each of the queens be dead, that's just how we stop the cursed thing from going back up-- if we don't kill them it's a heck of a lot easier to re-raise the web than to drop it).

1 focal point of the web can be dropped every 45mins or so. It's rather annoying. But yeah, I do think you need to try the other side before you claim that one is "easier"-- both sides have a lot of respawn and work involved, heh. And both sides are extended indefinitely if anyone is actually, y'know, trying to interfere with it.

Then dousing the lights of the psychic imprisonment thing is the next quest step. Along with breaking the seal.

Since Xiel's seen the two sides of the coin, shouldn't he able to comment? Not sure whether he knows the details of taking down Cthoglogg/Organs but I'm sure he'd be familiar with how to raise the kepheran web/Zenobia.

But yes, both quests can be easily put on hold if someone wants to stop them.

@Xenthos: Does the illithoid side involve killing hundreds of kephera?

Yep.

Also: Xiel's never seen the dropping of Zenobia's protection afaik, he mostly just stole the kill from us after Sidd / Talan / Sojiro / I spent all that time weakening her. sad.gif
Xiel2009-12-15 23:05:30
Yep. :3 Both my lines which have to do with killing Zenobia/raising Cthoglogg have just been a lot of luck in timing for myself, really. I know what it takes to raise the Queens and to kill the organs, so I do know that side of the pain. I'm still waiting for someone to undo the entire Illithoid side to get the last honour though, so once I know how that bit fares, I should know pretty much the pain of both sides involved.
Lehki2009-12-16 00:32:13
Is there any part of the illithoid quest where there's something you can make 2, maybe 3, every 45 minutes or so that has around a 1 in 7 chance of actually being what you need? That's what a raising a single queen is like. And I've had people kill them without even noticing there was a queen in the room while bashing keph. ):

There's a part of the illithoid quest where you need to find the stupid bags that the stupid NON-SENTIENT mobs without arms pick up. sad.gif So you have to bash all over the UV to find them. And you have a very short timeframe to do it or the things reset / unpoison themselves.

And then there's something funky with them that doesn't let you do the poisoning very easily in that time frame. I'm not really sure what the solution to that one is, but Ceren apparently did it, so you'll have to ask him.

Recall both Viynain and Xiel saying that part was really bitchy. Ceren said he had a path to cover the entire undervault, and triggers to pick up all that stuff/stop to kill blobs, so I guess that and some luck is how he managed.

Part of the keph side that involves those caravans I messed up on once, sent him out and he's "oh btw you need to kill the reavers at the gate RIGHT NOW." Tried doing it again little later and it bugged out on me. ):

Dear wonderful, pleasent divine. I love your events, I really do. But when you invade important parts of Magnagora/Celest with random beasts, can you at least:

A: Give them a common tag. Beast, creature, entropy, leftnut.. I don't care. I don't have to have to target four different things that are all wailing on me.
B: Make them actually worth XP that you can use to recoup the amount you lose to them? Demigods die to these things constantly, but I'm not even getting .01% per creature when I kill one..
